The Junior PGA Championship is recognized by the Tour Resource Center as one of the premier events for junior golfers in it’s new Junior Ranking System as a top Level 1 event.
Jacksonville, FL (July 13, 2010) The Tour Resource Center (TRC) has announced their new TRC Junior Ranking system, nicknamed the junior ‘Talent Report Card’ on Friday July 9, 2010. The 35th Junior PGA Championship is a top event on the TRC Ranking system. It is an invitation only event and one of the most prestigious junior golf events. Competing at this level represents some of the best junior competition in the world. Performing well at a TRC top level events, junior golfers will receive the highest points and increase their rank on the Rankings.
The Junior PGA series provides competitive golf for juniors ages 13-18. The series features a nine-state summer coast-to-coast schedule beginning June 1st and coming to an end July 26th. The 2010 Junior PGA Series schedule features eight 54-hole (three-day) and one 36 hole (two-day) competitions and the 72-hole flagship event, the 35th Junior PGA Championship. All nine events will serve as both Junior PGA Championship and Junior Ryder Cup qualifiers. Each Series event will feature a field of approximately 156 players.
The event fields are based on playing ability and are not first-come, first-served. The events will consist of boys’ and girls’ divisions. The 16-18 division boys’ winner and the overall girls’ winner of all events will receive an exemption to play in the 35th Junior PGA Championship August 2010. The Junior PGA series has attracted junior golfers representing 50 states, the District of Columbia, 24 countries and territories and six continents. The series can play an enormous role in the fate of junior golfers around the globe, beginning with the Junior PGA Championship.
The 35th Junior PGA Championship has been set to take place August 2-5, 2010, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It will be the first Junior PGA Championship to be contested in Indiana.

The Junior PGA Championship has traditionally produced unforgettable golf performances and brings together the best junior golfers from around the country. The Junior PGA Championship has been a stepping stone for competitors to either collegiate or Tour Professional careers including notable competitors such as 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman, 2001 PGA Champion David Toms, and U.S. Women’s Open Champion Christie Kerr.
The most rewarding outcome from playing in the series and winning the Junior PGA Championship is the opportunity to play in the Ryder Cup on the junior national team. The junior golfers who win the Junior PGA Championship earn an exemption into the Ryder Cup which is known as the junior golf event of the year. The Ryder Cup team is unlike any other as the Junior Ryder Cup is only held every other year and is recognized as attaining the most elite players in the sport.
