Reno-Tahoe Open players also lauded
SCHAUMBURG, Illinois (July 19, 2010) – Nippon Shaft today congratulated nine players who used its new prototype Tour shafts at last week’s Open Championship, including one who tied for third as well as the top amateur finisher.
“With eight professionals and the leading amateur in the field using Nippon Shaft products, last week’s Open Championship vindicates our company’s decision last year to begin designing equipment for the world’s elite players,” said Hiroyuki Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft.
Meanwhile, five players who competed in the PGA TOUR’s Reno-Tahoe Open used Nippon Shaft steel shafts in their irons, including a top-five finisher, Fukuda said.
“As we have traveled with the PGA TOUR over the last year, we have listened to the world’s best players and equipment manufacturers in order to determine what they require in their equipment to maximize their abilities,” Fukuda said. “We will continue to design and manufacture equipment to their elite specifications and, in the future, will make this state-of-the-art technology available to amateur players as well.”
Nippon Shaft has more than 100 professional victories worldwide. Based in Yokahama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia, where it controls 80 percent of the golf shaft market. In North America, Nippon Shaft is the No. 2-selling steel shaft and is growing.
