Inaugural Medinah Patriot Golf Day a resounding success
ITASCA, Ill. (July 22, 2010) – As the culmination of a months-long and very successful partnership, Eaglewood Resort & Spa announced today the results of the fundraising effort which it sponsored at the July 8 Medinah Patriot Golf Day held at nearby Medinah Country Club, host of the 2012 Ryder Cup. The event benefitted Folds of Honor Foundation whose mission is to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of service men and women killed or disabled while serving in the U.S Armed Forces.
Eaglewood, managed by Benchmark Hospitality International, is dedicated to programs that support community efforts through “Hometown Hospitality Caring for Our Communities,” a company-wide initiative. Hometown Hospitality formalizes many active community involvement programs and offers tools for properties like Eaglewood to become engaged as vital contributors in their home communities.
Eaglewood Resort & Spa served as a hub for planning, hosting team meetings and lending staff resources toMedinah Patriot Golf Day. The property also served as the official hotel/resort of the event, donating rooms for use by scholarship recipients and their families as well as event volunteers and Folds of Honor staff. Michael Herron, Marketing Manager for Eaglewood, was also intimately involved as a member of the event’s executive volunteer team, spending countless hours to ensure its success.

As a result of the event’s success, Medinah Country Club now has the honor of hosting the largest individual Patriot Golf Day fundraising effort on behalf of Folds of Honor Foundation, exceeding its goal of raising more than $100,000. Donations are still being made and numbers will be finalized shortly.
“In our first year, we sold out the venue, and most importantly, provided scholarships to deserving children and spouses of our services members,” said Slaby. “We could not have achieved this without the help of volunteers like Mike and partners like Eaglewood.”
