Columbus GA, July 22, 2010 – Roy Nix, Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP) has announced that the AGCP has received confirmation that Tom Wishon, the founder and president of Tom Wishon Golf Technology, will deliver the Keynote Address for the AGCP’s upcoming RT-5 education conference, scheduled to be held in late September in Columbus, GA.
The 5th Annual Education Conference and clubfitters and clubmakers convention will be held in the Historic Columbus Iron Works Trade and Convention Center in Columbus, Georgia with a Demo Day at Woodland Hills, Golf Course on Wednesday September 29, before the convention on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. With virtually all of the sponsors from 2009 committed to return and the expectation of at least 10 additional sponsors who have contacted us and committed to be at the Roundtable, and with more than as many advanced registrations as last year the AGCP expects a much bigger turn out than any previous year.
“There is no one in the golf equipment industry who knows as much about the design and performance of golf clubs, or can communicate that information as clearly and as compelling as Tom Wishon,” said AGCP Executive Director Roy Nix. “Tom has been a regular speaker at conventions and educational conferences in the golf industry all over the world. We are very pleased to have Tom as our Keynote Speaker and we are looking forward to his address as one of the highlights of the AGCP RT-5 convention.”
Golfweek magazine has called Tom Wishon “the smartest man in the golf equipment industry,” and his books have been publicly endorsed by luminaries in the golf industry including Arnold Palmer, LPGA Hall of Fame member Carol Mann, PGA Tour player and top 20 career money winner Scott Verplank, Golf Digest Top Ten Teacher Chuck Cook, and the equipment editors for Golf Digest and Golf World magazines.
In addition, Tom has designed more original clubhead models than any person in the 500 year history of the game, which include more than 50 different engineering and design firsts in the golf equipment industry.
“I’m very much looking forward to having the opportunity to address the AGCP clubfitting and clubmaking professionals at the upcoming RT-5 Educational Conference,” said Tom Wishon. “I’ve met and have had the chance to become good friends with a lot of the AGCP members over the years I have been in the custom clubmaking side of the golf industry so I am very much pleased to have the chance to renew these friendships this coming September.”
Wishon’s AGCP Keynote Address will cover a wide range of topics and information about golf equipment, ranging from a commentary on the state of the golf equipment business to specifics about the key elements in Clubfitting technology to a synopsis of the key points Wishon has learned about golf equipment in his 38 years in the golf business.
Attending the AGCP RT-5 conference with Wishon will also be Matt Mohi, the company’s Director of New Business Development and Clubfitting Research.
“We’re pleased to sponsor, support and promote the AGCP as a professional organization of custom clubfitters and clubmakers that also works diligently to build golfer awareness about accurate Clubfitting for the obvious benefits of game improvement it can bring to all golfers,” said Matt Mohi. “The AGCP membership includes the most knowledgeable and experienced custom clubfitters in the world and we are very happy to be able to exhibit at this year’s AGCP conference.”
