His putting was back to top form with a 28.7 putts per round average, ranking him 14th for the event.
• A SuperStroke Fatso grip was in play by a a 14th place finisher at the Senior Open Championship, a major event on the Champions Tour. The player credited the Fatso grip at the British Open as a reason he has been playing so well as of late.
“Putting to me, when I’m putting well on my short ones, like if I’m not missing three footers every other hole, I’m happy. That means I’m putting good. Nobody makes a bunch of 20 footers all the time, and then you just throw in a couple of 20 footers every now and then, and you feel like you’re putting good. That’s what I’ve been doing the last months is I’ve been putting my short ones really well. The fatter grip takes a little bit of tension out of my hands and my stroke and that’s been the big difference. ”
• The Bettencourt Reno-Tahoe victory was the 8th on the PGA and Nationwide Tour for SuperStroke and parent company Tiger Shark Golf, further expanding their title as the winningest jumbo putter grip company and the #1 jumbo putter grips on the PGA Tour.
About the Fatso Grip
The Fatso grip, which measures 1.67 inches in diameter, is designed to take the wrists out of the putting stroke and relieve tension in the hands. Weighing in at 85 grams, the SuperStroke Fatso Lite is the biggest and lightest of its kind in terms of weight to size ratio. SuperStroke has been at the forefront of the jumbo grip phenomenon, a market that grew over 25% last year. Over 70 PGA Tour pros have put SuperStroke technology into play over the last three seasons. Jumbo grips enhance a pendulum stroke, and they are also proven to keep the putter head square. Other benefits include natural balance and set up, less putter head rotation, improved ball roll and greater distance control.
