DG Spinner Shafts Score Second Straight Win At Canadian Open

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week on the PGA TOUR, True Temper’s all-new DG Spinner wedge shaft delivered the needed short game accuracy and ball control to win the RBC Canadian Open and True Temper’s 30th PGA TOUR victory this season.

The Canadian Open champion played the new DG Spinner shaft in his wedges and Dynamic Gold Lite shafts in his irons to set a new tournament-record of 60 on Saturday afternoon. He won the tournament with an inspired short game demonstration throughout the weekend by scoring #1 in sand saves (100%), #1 in eagles, and tied for 3rd in birdies by relying on True Temper tour-proven technology.

In addition to the champion, four players in the Canadian Open’s Top 10 money positions played DG Spinner shafts in their wedges and 10 of the 11 top finishers trusted shafts designed by True Temper in their irons. True Temper had 134 sets of irons in play throughout the event’s entire field.

“Control and accuracy are important with every shot but those factors are even more crucial in a player’s short game,” says Greg Cavill, True Temper’s director of metals R&D and engineering. “The DG Spinner’s unique design incorporates a specially engineered recessed section along the length of the shaft that decreases launch angles by as much as three degrees and increases the ball’s spin rate by as much as 700+ rpm. The result is a more penetrating ball flight for distance control and increased spin for greater accuracy and stopping power on the green.”

The DG Spinner wedge shaft is the latest technology from the highly popular Dynamic Gold line of shafts and is specifically designed to lower ball launch and increase ball spin during wedge shots. Since being introduced on tour just a couple of months ago, DG Spinner shafts have already won the Canadian Open, Legends Reno-Tahoe Open and the PGA Championship on the PGA Tour.

DG Spinner shafts are an optimized wedge series and available in two flexes – Wedge flex for sand and lob wedges and Wedge+ flex for gap and pitching wedges. DG Spinner will be available through True Temper’s Performance Fitting Centers, an exclusive group of club fitting professionals, in early September.
