Langer conquers Carnoustie using a Speedline driver and Idea hybrids and irons to secure his first major on the Champions Tour
PLANO, TEXAS, July 28, 2010 – Adams Golf staff member Bernhard Langer captured his first major title on the Champions Tour at The Senior Open Championship by shooting a final-round 1-over at Carnoustie to finish at 5-under 279 for the tournament. Langer captured the lead after the first round and never relinquished his position the entire tournament.
En route to victory, Langer played the Speedline driver (9.5 degree), an Insight fairway wood (3), an Idea Pro hybrid (18 degree) and Idea Pro Black irons (6-PW).
“Bernhard’s accomplishments this year on the Champions Tour have been nothing short of amazing,” said Chip Brewer, President and CEO of Adams Golf. “To win such a prestigious event on such a wonderfully tough links course is a testament to the level at which Bernhard is currently playing. He is a great representative for our company and we are all excited to congratulate him on his victory.”
Langer’s win at Carnousite is his third of the season on the Champions Tour, following victories at the Allianz Championship and the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am, and propelled him into the lead in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup points race. It is also his 11th career victory since joining the Champions Tour a mere three years ago.
