Network and Viewers will Pick Host for New 2011 Show
ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 4, 2010) – Golf Channel is on the lookout for a dynamic, fresh face to host a new instructional show launching in early 2011.
The Golf Channel Instructor Search will begin tomorrow, with the ultimate winner having convinced both a Golf Channel panel of experts and network viewers that he or she is the perfect choice to help golfers in need take their games to the next level.
Looking to bolster its instructional programming and build on the momentum created by The Golf Fix, the popular and successful Monday night instruction franchise that features audience interaction and the high-energy of host Michael Breed, Golf Channel’s newest show will provide that complement during the network’s Tuesday prime-time lineup.
Through a host of promotional announcements on air, as well as on the network’s website, teaching professionals will be encouraged to “audition” by submitting an eight-to-10-minute video online at www.golfchannel.com/instructorsearch or by mail. The instructional topic for the video is up to individual applicants, but all videos will be required to highlight knowledge, teaching acumen and on-camera presence. Videos will be accepted through Sept. 19 and will be available to view on GolfChannel.com.
Video submissions will be vetted by a Golf Channel panel to determine four finalists who will be given the opportunity to fly to the network’s Orlando studios to work with Golf Channel producers and host their own 30-minute pilot that will be televised in December during a themed, 12 nights of instructional programming, titled 12 Nights at The Academy.
Viewers also will be encouraged to participate in the process by helping to determine the best instructor by voting online. The winner is expected to be announced on Golf Central during the first week in January, with the new show scheduled to premiere early in the year.
