Reinforces firm’s unwavering commitment to top-quality service in China market
(SCOTTSDALE, AZ) – Schmidt-Curley Design – one of the world’s most active and innovative golf course design firms – announces golf-industry veteran Ray Scofield has joined the firm as construction / design coordinator.
Scofield is permanently based at the firm’s Haikou office on Hainan Island, ensuring timely client interaction and assistance. His presence further cements Schmidt-Curley’s hard-earned reputation as the golf course architecture firm best positioned to serve the burgeoning Chinese market.
“Our full-time Haikou office staff of more than 20 employees is devoted to efficiently providing unmatched service to all our Asia clients,” says Brian Curley. “This emphasis keeps developers happy, as evidenced by the high rate of repeat business we enjoy.”
Schmidt-Curley is the only American golf course design firm with two in-country offices (the other is in Kunming). This promotes quicker mobilization, lower travel costs and other valuable advantages over competitors.
Scofield has succeeded with Schmidt-Curley on a number of worldwide projects, including Marriott’s Shadow Ridge (Palm Desert, CA) and The Plantation G.C (La Quinta, CA). In 2003-04, he oversaw Schmidt-Curley’s construction of five golf courses at Mission Hills Shenzhen within a 15-month period. During his 30-year career, he’s worked on behalf of other acclaimed designers like Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf, Jay Morrish and Gary Player.
“In the last 25 years, we’ve partnered with Ray on some of our best-known designs,” adds Curley. “We’re excited to make him a full-time member of the team in a position key to our future growth.”
