COLUMBUS, Ga., August 10, 2010 — Roy Nix, Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP), the world leader in the advancement of custom clubfitting and clubmaking, announces that sponsor’s booth space for the 5th annual convention may be running out. “Although we reserved much more space than last year the current space we have reserved is filling up fast with sponsors who have paid. Sponsors and exhibitors are asked to sign up and pay now to insure you will have a place at the Convention. We are only a week away from a final commitment on keeping the reserved space we added or turning it in for other conventions in the center. We have a lot of “I will be there” commitments but unfortunately without payments to secure them. We need for those sponsors who want to exhibit at RT5 to please contact us this week and allow us to insure we have enough booth space for them. We cannot rent the Convention space based on someone saying “we will be there”, we have to have payment in advance to hold the booth space. We are a small organization and cannot afford to rent more space than sponsors have paid for in advance.
Last year was the first AGCP Roundtable held in the Historic Columbus Iron Works and Convention Center and it was a record breaking success. Based on commitments voiced during the convention last year we added 7,800 additional square feet to the 15,000 square feet we used for last year’s event and reserved 4 additional smaller rooms for classes for RT5. We have the original 15,000 square feet and the 7,800 square feet filled and if everyone who tells us they are going to come actually signs up and pays their fees we will need the additional 4 rooms of space too. But we need to have everyone who plans to exhibit at RT5 to pay for their space or we will have to turn in the extra 4 rooms and limit our sponsor participation this year. This is a great problem to have, but it is a problem never the less because registrations are still coming in daily and we look to have a record number of clubfitters, clubmakers and PGA Golf Professionals here this year.
We will have plenty of room for registrants for classes as we plan to use the additional 7,800 square feet for our class room, dining room and break out room, but that leaves us only the 15,000 square feet for exhibitions. We will also have unlimited General Admissions for the exhibits. Only the sponsor’s booth space is becoming threatened to be limited if some of our promises do not pay this week.
The 5th Annual Education Conference and clubfitters and clubmakers convention will be held in the Historic Columbus Iron Works Trade and Convention Center in Columbus, Georgia with a Demo Day at Woodland Hills, Golf Course on Wednesday September 29, before the convention on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. With virtually all of the sponsors from 2009 committed to return and the expectation of at least 10 additional sponsors who have contacted us and committed to be at the Roundtable, and with more than as many advanced registrations as last year the AGCP expects a much bigger turn out than any previous year.
The Featured speaker this year will be Tom Wishon, whose company Tom Wishon Golf Technology is recognized as the highest quality designer of high performance original clubheads, shafts, grips and fitting technology products used by independent professional custom clubmakers around the world, and guest speaker AGCP members Eric Hogge, the head professional of the PGA Center for Learning and Education in Port St. Lucie FL and Jimmy Sharpe, All America football player at the University of Alabama and former Head Football Coach at Virginia Tech as our dinner speaker this year, The AGCP expects a much larger turn out for this year’s event.
This year’s event features a new format of alternating Industry Experts, like Henri Johnson of FlightScope, as speakers on the Main Floor of the exhibit hall and class rooms with AGCP Masters teaching a variety of classes during alternating hours each day. For the first time this year the PGA is awarding MSR credits to their members for attending the AGCP classes. Other industry speakers lined up include Jeff Lucas, shaft designer – Aldila Golf, Charlie Blume, owner – SK Fiber shafts, Kate Whitney, President – SwingRite, Inc, swing training devices, and others yet to be determined.
