New Hank Haney IJGA Performance Center provides high tech golf analysis
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (August 11, 2010) – In addition to providing junior golfers with unparalleled instruction in the classroom and on the golf course, Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (Hank Haney IJGA) is enhancing its already strong commitment to fitness, strength training, and conditioning by opening a new state-of-the-art, 6,350 square foot facility, the Hank Haney IJGA Performance Center.
The new facility complements the Academy’s established ‘Better Fitness Better Golf’ program, centered on a rigorous physical training program several times a week that includes anaerobic and aerobic conditioning and strength training. A few topics for strength training include balance, flexibility, core strengthening, and Yoga and Pilates training.
“To effectively compete at the highest level, we are providing our junior golfers with excellence in instruction and access to the finest new training programs, top-of-the-line fitness equipment, and an extensive golf practice facility,” stated Peter Orrell, CEO of the Junior Golf Corporation which oversees the Hank Haney IJGA. “Our junior golfers from around the world now have access to all the assets they need to maximize their golf skills and enhance their fitness levels and well being, but we are also making it fun in the process.”
The Hank Haney IJGA Performance Center includes six putting greens, six hitting stations, three video hitting stations with JCV Video software and a six-station chipping area. In addition, a “High Definition” golf simulator system equipped with a 14-foot screen includes 15 golf courses, nine driving ranges, and other golf challenges for students to experience.
Junior golfers at Hank Haney IJGA will also have access to advanced computer vision technology that provides the most comprehensive and precise shot analysis in the industry. The technology is equipped to measure all critical ball and club parameters including ball speed, club speed, launch angle, club face angle, ball spin, and spin axis at high accuracy.
For current Hank Haney IJGA student Joe Noller of Lawrence, Kansas, who is entering his second year at the Academy, strength training has played an integral role in his development. A four-day-a-week regimen has transformed his 6 foot, 1 inch frame from 160 pounds to 185 pounds in under a year. His improvement in strength and flexibility has allowed him to hit the ball farther resulting in lower scores on the golf course and an improved handicap.
“When you see PGA tour players more focused on fitness, it motivates you to make a bigger commitment to this aspect of the game,” said Noller. “I’ve seen a huge difference in how I feel, how I swing and how I approach the game. Even though I was motivated before, the new fitness facility will provide more reasons for me and my classmates to work on different aspects of our game.”
