Course’s long list of accolades crows with latest honor
(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) — SouthWood Golf Club — the award-winning Fred Couples and Gene Bates designed course owned by The St. Joe Company and managed by Billy Casper Golf — is ranked No. 25 among Florida’s best public-access courses by GOLF Magazine in the September issue.
SouthWood is in elite company on the list of Florida’s finest courses, alongside several hosts to professional tour events and world famous resorts; Florida boasts more than 620 public-access facilities in all. GOLF Magazine’s rankings panel includes editorial staff and well-traveled golf industry sources.
“We are proud to be recognized by GOLF Magazine as one of the best public courses in Florida, a state featuring some of the most sought after playing experiences in the world,” says Beth Murphy, General Manager of SouthWood Golf Club. “SouthWood’s ranking speaks volumes about our course’s layout, as well as how hard our staff works to ensure SouthWood remains a truly special facility.”
This honor comes on the heels of SouthWood being named one of “America’s Top 50 Courses for Women” in the March issue Golf Digest. The course recently hosted the prestigious Florida State University Seminole Intercollegiate.
