Two great icons, golf legend Jack Nicklaus (right) and wine producer Tony Terlato (left), cook lunch together at Terlato’s Tangley Oaks company headquarters in Lake Bluff, Illinois, to celebrate the launch of Jack Nicklaus Wines. Nicklaus trades in his driver for a spoon to stir up some help for Terlato, a passionate cook as well as a winemaker. Produced on the Terlato family’s vineyards in Napa Valley, Nicklaus’ new wines were introduced this year with the 2007 vintage. The 2008 vintage is scheduled for release in early 2011.
Terlato Wines and Jack Nicklaus and his family have formed a partnership to produce Jack Nicklaus Wines: a new line of handcrafted, limited production wines from California’s famed Napa Valley. The initial vintage includes a 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2007 Private Reserve. Embodying the excellence one would associate with the Nicklaus name, the Limited Production 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, with its smooth and complex structure, is priced at $35. The 2007 Limited Production Private Reserve, a Bordeaux-style blend which combines fruit from prestigious Napa Valley appellations, is priced at $43. Both wines are available through www.uncorked.com and at premier golf clubs and resorts throughout the United States.
