Lemont, Ill., August 19, 2010 – GOLF magazine has named Cog Hill Golf and Country Club’s Dubsdread as one of the Top 100 Courses You Can Play in its September issue. Dubsdread, the host of the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship is ranked No. 16 on the list and No. 1 in Illinois in its state by state rankings.
“We are honored to make it into the top 20 in the country,” said Frank Jemsek, Owner of Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. “Since opening Dubsdread in 1964, we have provided golfers with one of the best daily-fee experiences in the country. And now the experience has been enhanced with the renovations we made to the course in 2008. Everyone who has played the course since then has been very pleased with the changes and the excellent course conditions.”
In 2008, Dubsdread underwent a $5 million renovation by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. The original routing of the award-winning Dubsdread remains the same but every hole has undergone renovation from tee to green, including installation of the state-of-the-art SubAir irrigation system. Average golfers continue to enjoy the beauty and playability of this traditional style golf course while the best players in the world encounter a challenging, but fair test.
Dubsdread has received numerous accolades since opening, most recently Golf Digest named it “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses,” Golfweek ranks it No. 1 in Illinois in “Best Courses To Play” and it has received the “Reader’s Choice Top 50 Public Facility” by Golf World. The practice facility is also ranked in the “Top 100 Ranges In America” by Golf Range Magazine.
Dubsdread is a par-72, stretching over 7500 yards from the championship tees. The green fee is $155 and includes a cart and range balls.
The other Illinois courses included in GOLF magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” are The General at Eagle Ridge Resort, The Glen Club and WeaverRidge Golf Club.
