After-school youth golf program starts up in Arapahoe County
Denver, CO – TGA-Premier Junior Golf, one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the largest national after-school junior golf program in the country, has expanded its franchises in the state of Colorado. This new TGA territory in Arapahoe County, the second franchise in the state of Colorado, is owned and operated by Mike Campbell.
“Through Mike, TGA is excited to continue our efforts of making golf accessible and affordable by bringing golf directly to the Denver area schools through our five-level education based program,” said Joshua Jacobs, president and CEO of TGA-Premier Junior Golf. “Colorado is a golf rich state and we look forward to working with Mike in growing the game in Arapahoe County through school and golf course programs.”
Campbell, who was born and raised locally in Broomfield, comes to TGA with a BA in Psychology from Arizona State University and an MA in Sports Psychology from San Diego State University. Campbell, who worked in the healthcare industry prior to joining TGA, is very excited about working with the kids and growing the game of golf locally.
“I am truly excited to be a part of TGA and extremely proud to bring this amazing program to the people of Arapahoe County,” said Campbell. “The TGA program has proven to be very successful in many other locations across the country and I have no doubt that the same will be true in Arapahoe County.”
Campbell will be focusing his efforts on school systems in Arapahoe County including public schools in the Cherry Creek, Littleton, Aurora, and Englewood school districts as well as private schools looking to enhance their after-school enrichment programs. In addition there will also be programs developed for the local YMCA’s and the Boys and Girls clubs in the area.
“I have always had a tremendous passion for the game of golf and working with kids. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the area schools and parents using golf as a vehicle to teach their kids important character building skills while also enriching their lives by teaching them a lifelong sport,” said Campbell.
TGA-Premier Junior Golf is one of the country’s most unique and fastest growing recreational programs for kids and is rapidly becoming a golden franchise opportunity for self starters who enjoy working with children in a business venture that provides a unique entry into youth sports, education, and the golf industry.
TGA is the largest national after school program that teaches the fundamentals of the game of golf, its rules, etiquette, and life values, while promoting education for kindergarten students through the eighth grade.
Since its inception in six Los Angeles schools in the fall of 2003, the premier junior golf program is now offered nationwide in 2,100 schools reaching 110,000 students from Kindergarten to 8th grade in 21 states. TGA breaks down the traditional barriers of inconvenience and high cost when golf is brought to children directly through their schools.
The TGA enrichment curriculum, developed by PhDs in child and curriculum development, along with PGA and LPGA golf professionals, is a unique five-level program designed for kids to advance from one level to the next while building self-esteem as well as confidence in terms of education, life skills and character development. The steps also include teaching fundamental math, science, English, and history associated with the program.
TGA is also endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA). It is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on After School, a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness. TGA is also approved by the United States Golf Association USGA) under the Rules of Amateur Status.
