IRVINE, CA – August 23, 2010 – FOURTEEN GOLF, recognized as a worldwide leader in wedge design and a known favorite amongst top touring golf professionals, proudly announced that two FOURTEEN GOLF wedges were played to capture the 2010 Wyndam Championship at Sedgefield Country Club last weekend.
As the field of PGA Professionals battled to qualify for the Fed Ex Cup, one gutsy and focused golfer had his sites on winning and that he did. On the 72nd hole he got up and down for par with his FOURTEEN GOLF sixty degree wedge to save par and take home the most important win of his tumultuous career.
According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda, “This victory makes our ninth win of the season. Each and every one is special but this win is extraordinary. To have a lifelong dream and PGA Card on the line is an immense amount of pressure and he prevailed. We’re SO proud at FOURTEEN GOLF of his performance and congratulate him for earning this invaluable title.”
The FOURTEEN GOLF PGA Tour Program continues to grow and succeed. In addition to an outstanding win at the Wyndam Championship a PGA Professional known amongst his peers as “the best ball striker” on tour put three MT-28 V5 Wedges in his bag – a 50, 55, and 60 degrees. He tied for third, his best finish of the 2010 PGA Tour Season and posted a bogey free FINAL round.
The PGA Tour program is managed by PGA Tour Representative Rusty Estes. He has worked diligently for FOURTEEN GOLF over the past five years building relationships amongst the world’s best golfers. Estes, a veteran in the golf industry can be credited for the success the FOURTEEN GOLF PGA Tour Program is experiencing.
“The new MT-28 V5 Wedges are getting a lot of attention on the PGA Tour. The combination of the reversed tapered head, clean traditional shapes and new grooves have been widely accepted. They know that short game success is the key to low scores and consistency. Playing the MT-28 V5 Wedges have helped them achieve these important factors,” stated Estes.
The classically designed MT-28 V5 Wedge features the signature FOURTEEN “reverse taper design” but has been improved by adding a groove strategically located in between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This structural change allowed the engineers to move the CG to a higher more stabilizing position for more precise shots.
The sole of the MT-28 V5 possesses a flatter shape with a trailing edge and heel relief. This new dynamic combination allows any player to fully utilize the club’s bounce and execute pure or solid shots out of any type of rough.
The MT-28 V5 boasts a rounded leading edge that promotes confidence at address and its clubface has been engineered so that the player can easily open or close the face. The head is manufactured with a Nickel chrome moliben alloy which conforms to the 2010 USGA club regulations. It is available in both a chrome and non-plated black finish.
In preparation for the new groove policy on the professional tours such as the PGA and LPGA, the company spent years engineering a new trapezoidal shaped groove for the MT-28 V5 Wedge. This distinctively sharp-edged trapezoidal groove also undergoes a mirror-face milling process which precisely and carefully mills each groove for optimal spin.
The professionally designed MT-28 V5 comes in a variety of lofts, a 48, 50, 52, 54, 56 (2), 58 (2) and a 60 degree. Two steel shafts, a Dynamic Golf and NS Pro 950GH are available. A proprietary rubber grips finishes these classic wedges.
