IRVINE, CA – September 16, 2010 – FOURTEEN GOLF, recognized as a worldwide leader in wedge design and a known favorite amongst top touring golf professionals, announced today that it has appointed sales executive Matt Zarilla to represent FOURTEEN GOLF in Northern California and in Northern Nevada.
Zarilla brings to the FOURTEEN GOLF sales team a wealth of sales experience. For years he has represented some of the best brands in golf; Daiwa, Izzo, Hugo Boss, Puma, McGregor, and most recently Wilson.
He began his golf career at Reebok International where he spent six years selling both golf shoes and the Greg Norman apparel line. His hard work combined with sales skills earned him the highly sought after 1992 Reebok International Sales Increase Award.
Most sales executive can only sell either soft goods or hard goods but not Zarilla. After his tenure at Reebok he transitioned into selling hard goods at Daiwa where he was awarded the 1993 Daiwa National Sales Person of the Year. In that same year he received the 1993 Highest Percentage Yearly Golf Sales Increase Award for both clubs and gloves.
At Izzo, Zarilla sold golf bags and their dual strap systems. He not only changed from selling golf equipment to golf bags but also moved from the Midwest to Northern California. He had to sell to a new dealers and retailers, pretty much an entirely new territory. Within a short time he again was given the National Sales Person award in 1998, 1999 and again in 2000.
“We are honored that FOURTEEN GOLF is attracting executives with Matt’s level of experience. His relationship with head golf professionals, pro shop buyers and store owners is truly impressive and will prove to grow FOURTEEN GOLF’s sales. He is a great addition to the team,” added Kamoda.
As with all successful independent sales representatives, Zarilla carries multiple lines. In addition to handling FOURTEEN GOLF, he currently works with GPS Golf Buddy and Clic Gear Cart where he was named the 2008 and 2009 Top Sales Volume Awards.
In addition to Zarilla’s savvy sales skills he also conducts product and sales training for his retail associates and partners. These sessions promote product sell through. According to Matt Zarilla, “The key to success at retail is working with the sales personnel who work the floor. They are the ones who interact with the customers. I look forward to introducing FOURTEEN GOLF to these important contacts and to expanding their distribution,” said Zarilla.
FOURTEEN GOLF in Japan established itself in 1981 as a premier golf equipment design company. The highly successful venture developed exclusive designs for Titleist, Yamaha, Srixon (formerly Dunlop Japan), Wilson, PRGR, and many more. The original team was credited with developing the first hybrid iron and the highly popular “Citation” cavity iron by Power Bilt which was one of the most popular irons of the 1980s. In the year 2000, the business transitioned into branded design and manufacturing company.
The name “Fourteen” is based on the fundamental rule of golf which states that the player can carry up to 14 golf clubs in their bag. FOURTEEN GOLF strives to produce the best 14 clubs ever. These clubs bring out the strength in a player. Like their “feather” moniker which represent the best scores in golf; a birdie, eagle, and albatross, these clubs will bring out the best scores for any golfer, professional or amateur.
