La Habra, CA – Since 1971, Maruman Golf has been considered the innovative leader in golf club manufacturing. Their mission, from day one, has been to create clubs that enhance the enjoyment of the game for players of all skill levels. Their motto…”the pursuit of cutting edge design and unparalleled engineering to enrich the lives of the people who play golf”… is what keeps them on top of what is a very competitive industry.
Over the past 39 years, Maruman Golf has designed and manufactured several successful lines of golf equipment, one of their most popular ones, the Shuttle Series, was first introduced in 1996. Maruman’s Shuttle Series targets golfers looking for easy swinging clubs that give them a longer carry distance with a minimal amount of effort. Over the past 14 years, Maruman has sold over 300,000 Shuttle fairway woods. The Maruman Shuttle is regarded as one of the best fairway woods ever made and is by far the easiest to hit. The success stems from the engineer’s unique design concept of focusing solely on the function of a fairway wood on its own, and not as a club that simply fills the gap between a driver and a set of irons.
The design concept of focusing on fairway wood functions sounds like nothing new these days. However, at the time Shuttle was introduced, there weren’t very many companies investing much time, money or effort into designing better fairway woods. Maruman engineers recognized that a shot from the fairway is quite different from a tee shot in the sense that a player is forced to adapt to the various lies that nature gives them. In other words, you cannot tee the ball up in the fairway; so the mental part, especially confidence, plays a big part in pulling off a good shot from any fairway lie.
One very wise thing that Maruman has done over the years has been to focus on human testing rather than machine testing. To this day, engineers have not been able to invent an Iron Byron that can tell us if a club looks good at address or if it inspires confidence. In short, we are not a machine, and what we see in conjunction with our circumstances may trigger many different emotions and feelings. Again, this does not seem like anything new in 2010, but when the Shuttle was introduced, the concept was quite innovative especially for consumer golf products. With this in mind, Shuttle was designed with “Human Concept,” which is to create the shape (aesthetics), and functions (forgiveness) to boost success after another – confidence.
Current Shuttle models still carry the same DNA that was used to manufacture the original ones, only bigger, better and easier to hit. The current Shuttle Series consists of Driver, Fairway Woods, and Irons.
Shuttle i4000X Driver
Easy hitting Shuttle i4000X Driver was created for Shuttle fairway wood users who demand the same forgiveness and playability. The key design concept of this Shuttle driver is longer distance, lower spin, boring trajectory, lightweight, and surprisingly a shorter shaft. Maruman believes shorter shafts increases chances for solid center contact.
The i4000X is made of 6-4 titanium with FM titanium clubface. Each head is made from precision casting and milling. Drivers come in 44.5 inches with 11.0 and 12.5 degrees for men and 13.5 degrees with 44 inches for women. The men’s driver weighs 284g -291g depending on flex and 267g for the women’s.
Shuttle i4000X Brassie
The Shuttle i4000X Brassie is a great alternative for golfers who have trouble hitting their driver but can hit fairway woods well. It’s also great for players who experience distance loss due to Shuttle 3 wood’s high launching characteristics. The Brassie will achieve a more boring trajectory with down range projection. The head is precision cast in maraging 200 steel and the face consists of cold rolled maraging 350 steel.
The Brassie comes in 13 degrees of loft with 42.75inches of length at 293g- 300g of weight depending on shaft flex.
Shuttle i4000X Fairway Wood
Shuttle i4000X fairway woods (W3, W5, W7, W9, W11, and W13) are engineered to provide outstanding distance, maximum control, and uncompromising performance. It has achieved the MOI of over 4000g/cm square (Ladies Version 3800g/cm square), which provides greater distance and stability. The oversized 230cc head (Ladies version 210cc) features a “power ribs” structure into the top sole, which increases strength and provides shock absorption with better sound at impact. The CG is set deep inside of the cavity contributing to a wider sweet spot area, lower spin rate, longer carry and increase in overall distance.
3 and 5 woods use a “Super Maraging Steel” face with variable thickness to achieve greater ball speed. 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 woods also feature a variable thickness face with tungsten weight on the sole. The sole is also made of the “Toughest Maraging Steel” available to provide higher trajectory that lands and stops on a dime. 3W and 5W are 15 degrees and 18 degrees, 42.5 inches and 42.0 inches in length, 294g – 301g and 297g – 305g in weight. 7W -13W are 19 degrees to 30 degrees with 3 degree increments. The Ladies version has the same features as the men’s but comes 1.5 inches shorter with a lighter shaft.
Shuttle i3000X irons
Maruman engineers set out to design the most forgiving irons possible. Their answer was the Shuttle i3000X irons. As the number 3000 indicates, the heads boast an incredible MOI of 3000g/cm2. All the clubs from 5I to SW have the same center of gravity at 38mm, which enables a golfer to swing their 5 iron with the ease of swinging their short irons. Imagine swinging your 5 or 6 iron nice and smooth like you do your pitching wedge, but getting all the distance and trajectory you could possibly ask for. With the Shuttle i3000X irons you can achieve this and eliminate the unnecessary pressure and worry of miss-hitting your mid irons.
Shuttle i3000X irons come with 5I – SW. 7 iron stats are 28degrees in loft, 62 degrees lie angle, and 37.5 inches long. The set comes with ultra light and low kick point graphite shafts outfitted exclusively for the heads. For regular flex, shaft weight is 51g with torque of 4.2.
Over the past 39 years, Maruman clubs have won 3 Majors and over 100 Professional Tour Victories and are known to be one of the most trusted names among touring professional and top amateurs worldwide.
