La Habra, CA – Royal Collection USA, the exclusive distributor for premier tour caliber Japanese golf equipment, announced today that a new full line of golf equipment, called the Tour VS Series, is now available in the U.S.
Since its inception in 1992, Royal Collection (RC) has had a strong following of Tour Players and top amateurs worldwide and is especially well known for its fairway wood sole configuration called the “Driving Cavity”. The Driving Cavity refers to the horseshoe shaped cavity seen on the soles of the RC fairway woods and hybrids. A well known South African Tour Player captured several PGA and European Tour victories in the late nineties, with a Royal Collection fairway wood in his bag, which catapulted the popularity of the RC brand on Tour. Since then, RC fairway woods have helped capture several victories including majors like the Open Championships in 2000 and 2004. In Japan, on the JPGA Tour, Royal Collection has been #1 in fairway woods and hybrids category, according to the Darrell Survey, for the past seven consecutive years. Now, the same design and technology that has captured numerous victories on the PGA, European and Japan Golf Tours over the past 18 years is available to golfers here in the U.S.
Realizing there is no end to improvement and no limit for innovation, Royal Collection has introduced their new Tour VS Series of equipment, which includes the Tour VS Driver, Tour VS Fairway wood, Tour VS UT, and Tour VS Irons. The Tour VS Series is the culmination of Royal Collection’s technology, vision, and confidence. The “VS” is derived from the word “Versus” and RC’s new “V-Cut Sole.” The theme of this Series of clubs is synchronicity of imagination and performance.
Tour VS Driver
Recent trends in golf club manufacturing have steered most club companies towards offering larger oversized driver head designs. Drivers pushing the USGA size limitations of 460cc’s are believed to be more forgiving and better suited for the average player. However, these larger more forgiving driver heads have not always benefited tour pros and top amateurs. Feel, subtle control, and the sensation of speed felt from the smaller heads of the past has been sacrificed for the sake of forgiveness. Not anymore, the new Tour VS Driver is the answer that players who demand precise trajectory control, consistency and ultimate feedback have been looking for.
At 425cc’s, the smaller clubhead of the Tour VS Driver has added rotational consistency, which translates to more predictable ball flight according to what a player “feels” from his or her swing. The weight is distributed with higher clubhead speed in mind, resulting in a lower spin rate, and the Tour VS provides superior distance, because the head is designed to transfer energy to the golf ball more efficiently.
Tour VS Fairway Woods
The Tour VS Fairway Wood is the height of what is required at the highest level of play – Distance, Strong Down Range Projection (Trajectory), and Control. The orthodox shape and simple head design inspires both confidence and creativity. The clean appearance enables players to set up at ease at various address positions. The club sits well whether you are setting up for a high shot, low shot, draw or fade. The “V-Cut Sole” of the Tour VS Fairway Wood, along with RC’s original Driving Cavity Sole Design, stabilizes the head through the impact area. This Fairway Wood is designed for shaping shots, and thus retains appropriate spin characteristics. However, by retaining ball speed and a higher launch angle, it still provides significant carry distance with excellent down range projection.
Tour VS UT Irons
The Tour VS UT Irons are the tools you need to attack your target from long range. The UT Iron is designed to launch the ball up into the air well from various lies, but retains the desired function of controlling the height of shots at any given conditions. While still placing the CG deep inside of the head, the club does not have a “chunky” appearance at address, it looks square and clean and is very easy to set up to the target. Even when it is set up in the back of the stance for lower shots, it still looks clean and square at address, which helps the player feel comfortable and confident. The VS UT features a 2 piece construction – unitized steel and neck welded with stainless steel body. It has achieved deep CG and large MOI which can be felt instantly when the ball soars high, long and straight. The steel face ensures a solid feel at impact along with great ball speed and strong trajectory.
Tour VS Irons
Nothing compares to forged irons when it comes to feel, and nothing other than forged irons provide the kind of control that an accomplished player demands. The new Tour VS irons provide added playability features such as low CG and higher MOI while retaining the traditional elements of a true Players forged iron. Forged heads with progressive playability functions add to the superior feel of these irons. Playability is ensured by a two-piece (face and body) pocket cavity construction, which sets the CG low and deep, while retaining the traditional iron functions such as control and consistency. The Tour VS irons are also lively and progressive meaning they provide longer distance and are easier to hit. Royal Collection has incorporated a “V-Cut Sole” for effective turf interaction. By cutting the toe and heel side of the sole diagonally and shaping the sole into the letter “V”, it causes directional stability which allows the sole channels to have the least resistance from touch down to release.
