(Rockaway, NJ) – Golf4Her, a website for women’s golf apparel and accessories, announced today it will donate 10% of net proceeds from select items to Birdies for Breast Cancer, a charity founded by LPGA Tour member Cristie Kerr.
Funds will directly benefit the newly opened Cristie Kerr Women’s Health Center at the Jersey City Medical Center campus in New Jersey. The center offers breast cancer screening programs including free mammograms and education on breast cancer for women regardless of their insurance coverage. The center is the first full-service facility in the country to provide detection, healing, support and recovery services.
“Golf4Her is dedicated to empowering women and this disease touches the lives of all of us in some way or another,” said Christina Thompson, owner and founder of Golf4Her. “Seventeen years ago, I lost my mother to colon cancer. She was only 46. I truly believe that with adequate education and screening, we can help countless women avoid cancer altogether and effectively treat those that do develop this terrible disease.”
To support their efforts, Golf4Her created the “Pretty in Pink Webtique” section on its website, which offers a collection of pink apparel and accessories, including the BonJoc Pink Ribbon Ballmarker worn by Kerr. New items will be added throughout the month of October. Golf4Her will donate proceeds from the sale of these items directly to Birdies for Breast Cancer.
Thompson noted “as women, we all need to take an active role in educating ourselves about breast cancer prevention and supporting other women that have been diagnosed with the disease. Golf4Her is inspired by Christie’s passionate activism and pledges do its part to help raise breast health awareness and support advances in research.”
