Resurfaced Greens, Championship-Length Layout and Remodeled Clubhouse Highlight $1.5 Million Renovation Project
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – September 29, 2010 – Falcon’s Fire Golf Club, one of Central Florida’s finest courses located just minutes from Walt Disney World, today debuted a new and improved look, further establishing it as one of the region’s leading public facilities. The $1.5 million renovation project is highlighted by resurfaced greens, a Championship-length layout stretching to just over 7,000 yards and a remodeled clubhouse.
As part of the golf course enhancement project, all greens were resurfaced with TifEagle variety of turf – an ultradwarf Bermuda grass – providing golfers with faster, smoother putting conditions. Additional modifications to the course included the enlarging of bunkers, the re-sculpting of fairways, the creation of new run-off areas around certain greens, and installing an improved greens irrigation and drainage system. Further, with the construction of additional tee boxes on select holes, the course has been stretched to over 7,000 yards from the Championship tees, offering a fair challenge for golfers of all skill levels, while ensuring the shotmaking skills of elite players are tested when playing from the tips. Complementing the exciting renovations is a new fleet of carts complete with a new GPS system.
In addition to the new tee boxes, Falcon’s Fire has invested in a breadth of new maintenance equipment, which will improve the daily operation of the club, while ensuring a best-in-class conditioned golf course. Additionally, to fall in line with Marriott’s commitment to environmental stewardship, Falcon’s Fire is in the process of becoming a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, and is working on maintaining the highest degree of environmental quality in several areas including Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation and Water Quality Management. Falcon’s Fire plans to complete the certification by the end of 2010.
“Our entire team is thrilled to unveil the new and improved Falcon’s Fire,” said Steve Schaller, General Manager, Falcon’s Fire Golf Club. “The recent renovations to the course and clubhouse, combined with our Audubon efforts and the superior service for which Marriott is so well known, allows us to offer an unmatched Orlando golf experience.”
Further highlighting the “New-Look” Falcon’s Fire are extensive upgrades to the interior and exterior of the clubhouse, completed in August 2010. Neutral-colored wall coverings and carpeting are accented with deep mahogany doors, chandeliers, new tables, and elegant chivari chairs, enhancing the ballroom and establishing Falcon’s Fire as one of the premier venues in the region to host weddings, special events, business meetings and golf outings. The onsite restaurant, the Falcon’s Nest, has also been enhanced with new furnishings and lighting, a new bar, and three big screen HD TVs, providing a friendly, casual dining atmosphere with a spectacular view of Falcon’s Fire’s signature finishing hole.
Located just three miles east of the main gate of Walt Disney World, Falcon’s Fire Golf Club offers both local residents and out of town visitors a challenging, yet playable layout with four sets of tees. Stretching over 7,000 yards from the tips, the par-72 course has received multiple awards, including a Four Star rating from Golf Digest, as well as the distinction as one of the top rated public facilities in Florida by multiple publications.
In addition to the award-winning golf course, Falcon’s Fire Golf Club offers a fully stocked Golf Shop and a GPS navigation system in all carts. Moreover, the clubhouse includes the Falcon’s Nest Restaurant, offering a diverse menu for any occasion, and banquet facilities for up to 175 guests, overlooking the pristine golf course.
