SAN DIEGO, CA. – Heritage Golf Group is pleased to announce that it has added the newly formed, member-owned Amelia Island Equity Club, Inc., consisting of the Ocean Club and Long Point Golf Club, in Amelia Island, Florida to its portfolio of clubs by signing a management agreement with the Amelia Island Equity Club, Inc. Heritage Golf Group will operate the Long Point Golf Club, featuring Tom Fazio’s championship course, along with the Ocean Club, which is a dining, swimming and beach club, on behalf of the Members. The Heritage Management team was chosen by the board of directors after a competitive interview process.
Long Point, Tom Fazio’s creation, is an 18-hole layout designed distinctly among primal marshlands and the towering sand dunes of the Atlantic. Completed in 1987, Fazio’s award-winning design challenges golfers with natural hazards, tight fairways and elevated greens. Long Point is a par 72 course with a back tee yardage of 6,775 yards. It has been acclaimed as one of the “Top 50 Courses in Florida”, by Golfweek Magazine and one of the “Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest. Long Point was previously host to the Florida Women’s Amateur, Men’s U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers, in addition to numerous Amelia Island Club events and championships.
The Ocean Club sits amongst the dunes at the Plantation, embracing gorgeous vistas and immediate access to a magnificent beach. The ambience combines the attentive service and convivial atmosphere available only to Ocean Members. Together, Long Point Golf Club and the Ocean Club have over 12,000 members.
Vince Villani, president of the member Board of Directors, said “We are delighted with the members’ ability to now control their own private club and the Board felt that Heritage Golf Group was uniquely qualified to provide a high quality club experience for the members and their guests.”
Heritage Golf Group has been expanding its business model to offer golf management and consulting services to owners. Amelia Island Equity Club will be Heritage Golf Group’s third management business relationship in the past ten months.
“We are focusing on management opportunities with Member owned clubs, where we can provide unique personal attention to the operation through the skills of our senior staff,” said Andy Crosson, Executive Vice President of Heritage Golf Group. “We provide significant resources towards improving operating efficiencies and performance, all while maintaining a high quality level of service.”
