Located in Windermere, Florida, the Golden Bear Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus. In addition to being a legendary golfer and course designer, Jack Nicklaus helped popularize yardage guides themselves. Until the 1960s, most professional golfers relied heavily on their own sense of distance and their caddie’s insight to help them in club selection. Nicklaus began meticulously studying courses before playing them, walking off distances himself, and then having his caddie, Angelo Argea, double-check them in order to produce a “book” of precise measurements and notes on how each hole should be attacked. Gradually, other professionals began to follow this procedure. Consequently, yardage books are commonplace today for both pros and amateurs alike.
Best Approach began producing yardage guides in 1994, introducing such major innovations as Accurate 3D Graphics. Today, Best Approach is the world’s leading producer of yardage guides and animated course flyovers. Our customers include more than 1200 of the finest courses in the world, including more than half of the courses hosting PGA TOUR events in 2010.
Best Approach has been producing CourseFlight animated flyovers since 2006. At first, they were a novelty, but now the number of courses that feature CourseFlight on their website is in the hundreds, due largely to more affordable pricing. Every yardage book or yardage card project completed by Best Approach now includes a 12-month trial of the CourseFlight animated flyovers at a special introductory price of $250.
