Victory at Korea Open, Two Top 10 Finishes on PGA Tour
SuperStroke Golf, a division of Tiger Shark Golf, garnered worldwide exposure this weekend with a victory at the Korea Open and T3rd and T6th place finishes at the PGA Tour’s inaugural McGladrey Classic. All three players used the company’s eye-catching Slim putter grip designed to reduce wrist breaks and enhance a pendulum stroke.
This year on the PGA, Champions, Nationwide, LPGA and Asian tours, SuperStroke and Tiger Shark putter grips have now been a part of 2 victories, 22 Top 10 finishes and 37 Top 25 finishes. Over 80 PGA Tour professionals have now put SuperStroke technology into play.
Korea Open
The South Korean who became Asia’s first major men’s golf champion by winning last year’s PGA Championship, won his second OneAsia title of the year Sunday at the Korea Open. The 2009 PGA champion shot a 5-under 66 to complete a stunning comeback and win with the help of his SuperStroke Slim jumbo putter grip that measures 1.3 inches in diameter.
The player started the final round 10 shots behind the leader and came back to win after carding six birdies and an eagle on the final day to finish the tournament on 4-under par. If the 10-shot comeback had happened on the PGA Tour, it would have tied the record for largest comeback with 18 holes to play.
“To come back from the brink of worrying about missing the cut and win is just great,” said the player. “For me, this tournament has been defined by patience, perseverance and a lot of luck. It has given me back a lot of confidence after the last few months, as I’ve been struggling a bit with my timing.”
The major winner now sits at the top of the OneAsia Order of Merit following the victory. The victory is the 9th worldwide professional victory for SuperStroke, making them the #1 winningest jumbo putter grips in golf.
McGladrey Classic
Another major champion used a SuperStroke Slim grip this week on the PGA Tour en route to a T3rd place finish at the McGladrey Classic in Sea Island, Georgia. The former LSU graduate was in contention all weekend with the all black oversized grip from SuperStroke. He finished the event ranked 9th in Putts Per GIR.
A new up-and-coming player also put a SuperStroke Slim into play for the first time at the McGladrey Classic, helping the player to his 7th Top 10 of the season. The Richmond, Indiana native ranked T13th in Putts Per Round with the Slim grip.
