Sacramento, October 14, 2010 – The beauty in the game of golf is that each new shot provides an opportunity to improve on the accomplishments of the past and create opportunities for future success.
The First Tee of Greater Sacramento (TFTGS) is fashioning its own future success with the announcement of its new partnership with Morton Golf, LLC. Morton Golf, LLC has for decades been the gold standard for golf course operators in the Sacramento region. Under the new agreement, Morton Golf will be asked to manage the day to day activities and operations at the William Land Golf Course as well as direct the TFTGS programs for children 5-17. Morton Golf is a national award-winning operation. The PGA of America, Golf Digest Magazine, Golf Shop Operations Magazine, Golf Range Magazine, Golf Business Magazine and Golfweek Magazine have recognized Morton Golf as one of America’s leading operators with a variety of awards and for its expertise in golf instruction, junior golf programs, clubfitting, customer service and management style.
Started in 1997 as Sacrametno Area Youth Golf Association (SAY Golf), the organization operates as an independent not-for-profit (501 (c) 3) organization which later affiliated with The First Tee to become a regional chapter of that international organization. The organization helps young people develop life skills and core values through the game of golf. Those core values are courtesy, perseverance, responsibility, respect, honest, confidence, integrity, sportsmanship and judgment.
TFTGS offers multiple programs designed for specific skill levels that allow young people to advance toward greater mastery of golf. But the central purpose extends far beyond hitting a ball onto a green and into the hole. With its well-established rules of etiquette and emphasis on sportsmanship-like conduct- not to mention the high-level of hand-eye coordination required to play competently- learning golf provides an ideal backdrop to practicing self-discipline, setting goals and learning to respect others, TFTGS organizers say.
