Imagine a golf getaway to notoriously sin-provoking Las Vegas that will actually benefit the efforts of charitable and humanitarian organizations around the world. Imagine no longer. Welcome to the Golfer’s Guide National Team Classic benefiting Toast to Humanity.
Golfer’s Guide Marketing Solutions, the publisher of Golfer’s Guide Magazine and www.golfersguide.com, is teaming with Toast to Humanity, a growing worldwide charity that promotes humanitarian causes, to stage the first ever Golfer’s Guide National Team Classic benefiting Toast to Humanity this coming February in Las Vegas.
The tournament will feature two-man amateur teams from across North America competing over three days on several of the finest golf courses in the Las Vegas area. The Rio All Suites hotel is the host casino for the National Team Classic, serving as home base for all the players during the Feb. 20-23, 2011 event. The team rate for the event is $1,999 and includes four nights at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino, three rounds of golf, a pair of receptions and a tournament gift bag.
Competing golfers will be challenged by Siena, Arroyo and Rio Secco golf courses and will compete in a different team format each day. Contestants will also have the opportunity to compete away from the golf course, in a $10,000 Texas Hold ’em poker tournament on Monday, Feb. 21.
Proceeds from the event, both on and off the course, will go toward supporting the many charitable and humanitarian efforts of Toast to Humanity and its wine and spirit partners. The organization supports humanitarian efforts around the world, with an emphasis on groups that assist a numbers of children’s charities.
Golfer’s Guide Marketing Solutions is the publisher of Golfer’s Guide Magazine, North America’s largest network of regional golf publications covering 22 markets and reaching more than 10 million golfers annually. The company also publishes four national websites, including www.golfersguide.com, the leading golf lifestyle website in the industry, and www.teetimesavings.com, an e-commerce site geared toward marketing affordable rounds of golf at more than 350 courses across the Midwest, Carolinas and Florida.
Golfer’s Guide has teamed with Toast to Humanity for many years, supporting the charity with marketing and advertising services.
“We are thrilled to be taking our relationship with Toast to Humanity to the next level,” said James McMahon, Golfer’s Guide’s director of media operations. “To put together such a fun event with an organization that helps so many people, especially children, is a great thing. To bring that event to a great place such as Las Vegas is just the icing on the cake.”
During each day of the tournament, golfers will play a different golf course with formats alternating from alternate shot to best ball of two to captain’s choice. Golfers will play to 70 percent of their handicap.
All three host courses are among the most acclaimed and sought-after Las Vegas courses. Located a mere 10 minutes from the strip, the Tuscan-themed Siena Golf Club is among the most spectacular courses in the Nevada Desert and is a favorite of visitors and locals alike. Surrounded by the towering spring mountains, Siena boasts gently rolling fairways and artful bunkering – all offered with a dazzling view of the famous Vegas skyline.
Nestled among the beautiful Red Rock Canyon in the master-planned community of Summerlin, the Arroyo Golf Club is among the most respected and sought after courses in the Las Vegas area. A challenge for players of all skill levels, Arroyo ribbons through Red Rock Canyon and affords golfers an awesome view of the Vegas skyline from the seventh hole.
Designed and built by the “Open Doctor” Rees Jones, Rio Secco Golf Club sits at the base of the beautiful Black Mountains, about 14 miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. Ranked among the top 100 Resort Courses by GolfWeek in 2007, Rio Secco will delight golfers with six holes that roll though a large canyon, six that sits on a high plateau overlooking the city and six more in a broad desert wash. It’s like playing three different golf courses in one memorable round.
All pre- and post-golf events will be hosted by the Rio All Suites Hotel; a Harrahs property located a block from the heart of the Vegas Strip. In addition to a pair of receptions, the Rio will host the event’s freeroll Texas Hold ’em poker tournament that will feature a $10,000 jackpot.
Given its attractiveness to golfers and its wide array of entertainment possibilities, Las Vegas was the natural choice for Golfer’s Guide’s inaugural golf event. The ability to give back to the golf and entertainment community during difficult times is also an important aspect of the event.
“The economic struggles of the past year-plus have hit many areas very hard and Las Vegas is certainly one of them,” McMahon said. “With our Vegas Golfer’s Guide and our regional websites we have had a presence in this market for more than a dozen years, so we relish the opportunity to give back to the entertainment industry of Las Vegas.”
Golfers seeking more information on the inaugural National Two Man Classic can visit www.nationalteamclassic.com or call 866 497-2627.
