Extends Golf’s Global Appeal
Columbus, Ohio and New York – (October 26, 2010) – Sterling Sports Management (“Sterling”) and Mirae Asset Global Investments (“Mirae Asset”), one of the world’s largest emerging markets equity investment managers, today announced that Sterling’s client, Brittany Lincicome, has become the first American LPGA player to sign a primary endorsement deal with Mirae Asset.
Lincicome, a three-time champion and major winner on the LPGA Tour, has agreed to a sponsorship deal under which she will wear clothing emblazoned with the Mirae Asset logo during competitive play. The deal is effective immediately.
Commenting on today’s announcement, Lincicome stated, “Golf is a global sport and investing is a global business. It is an honor for me to partner with a global firm like Mirae Asset and be one of the first American LPGA golfers to be selected by a global financial services company as a primary sponsor.”
Jay (Hun Jun) Jang, the President and CEO of Mirae Asset Global Investments (USA), said: “As Mirae Asset expands its role as an emerging markets expert in the U.S., we’re proud to sponsor a US golfer. Brittany Lincicome’s exciting play has captured the admiration of golf fans around the world. In Brittany’s game, we observe the same qualities we look for when we invest: sustainable competitiveness and the potential for long-term success. In addition, she exemplifies Mirae Asset’s commitment to giving back to the community through her charitable work with children and young golfers. Her core values are aligned with ours, and we’re delighted to have her represent Mirae Asset.”
Considered one of the LPGA tour’s longest drivers, Lincicome staked her place among the LPGA’s elite in April of 2009 by winning the Kraft Nabisco Championship to capture her first major title. Having already won two of the most lucrative tournaments on tour during previous years (HSBC match play event and the Ginn Open), Lincicome won the Kraft in dramatic fashion by eagling the 18th hole to win by one stroke. Earlier this month, after finishing 2nd at the Navistar LPGA Classic, Lincicome shot the 2nd best score in the history of the LPGA Tour in relation to par, shooting an 11-under-par score of 61 in the 1st round of the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge. This not only captured the attention of LPGA golf fans, it also attracted the attention of a sponsor halfway around the world.
