LPGA Hall of Famer and Tiger Shark Golf staff player Juli Inkster finished 2nd at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. She came within inches of breaking the LPGA Tour age record of 46 years and eight months when she was leading the field by one stroke with one hole left to play. Inkster had been on fire to that point, birdying the 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th holes.
“It was a three-quarter shot and I just left it there. You know, I played well all day but it just did not turn out my way.”
She has earned two top 10 finishes this year and felt that she is still playing well enough not to consider retirement. Inkster is a mother of two and is currently 50-years-old.
“I’m playing a lot better,” said Inkster. “Just my swing is not working well enough and I got to keep working on it,” said Inkster. “I really enjoy what I do and it was great travelling here to Malaysia. They treat us great and it’s a nice feel to compete here. I’ll come again, maybe next time.”
To date, Inkster has won 31 tournaments on the LPGA Tour, including seven major championships. She is currently third on the LPGA career money list. She has played on the United States Solheim Cup team eight different times and has won a total of 18 points in Solheim competition, making her the winningest American Solheim Cup player in history.
“Juli has been a tremendous asset to Tiger Shark over the years and we are proud of her continued success on the LPGA Tour,” said Tiger Shark President Dean Dingman. “She has been an inspiration to many golfers and we are very fortunate to have her on the Tiger Shark team.”
Four years ago, Inkster lent her name and her expertise on club design to the Tiger Shark design team to help manufacture a complete set of clubs designed specifically for women golfers. The Juli Inkster set has become a top seller for Tiger Shark and retailers across the country.
“These are the best performing women’s set on the market today”, said Inkster when asked about the new set. The 2010 Juli Inkster set utilizes revolutionary manufacturing methods to provide an entire set that provides the proper lofts and consistent performance from club to club. They have been specifically designed to promote faster swing speeds and high trajectories for female golfers looking to gain distance and accuracy on the course.
