Famed Bay and Pines courses, home of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, to undergo a series of renovations designed to improve the championship golf experience at leading northeast resort; golf project is part of overall resort enhancement at Seaview
GALLOWAY, N.J. – November 10, 2010 – Seaview Golf Resort, a Troon Golf managed facility and one of the premier resort destinations in the Northeast, today announced a $1.4 million capital improvement project, whereby the famed Bay Course, home of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, as well as the popular Pines Course, will be undergoing a series of renovations during the upcoming off season.
A world-class bayside retreat situated on 670 acres of pristine pinelands in Southern New Jersey, Seaview is embarking on the golf renovations as part of an overall Seaview enhancement project, which is slated for completion by March 2011, just in time for the start of the new golf season. The project will offer golfers a fresh new-look and experience on two of Southern New Jersey’s and the Philadelphia-area’s most storied golf courses.
Highlighting the renovations to the Bay Course will be a complete bunker restoration project, complemented by re-turfed fescue mounds along the fairways and an improved drainage system on select holes. The Pines Course will benefit from the project via a bunker restoration, the removal of select trees throughout the course designed to open up the fairways, and a cart path upgrade. In addition to the on-course project work, golfers at Seaview will also enjoy new-look changes to the interior of the golf club, including a refresh of both the men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, featuring new lockers, carpeting and showers. The Golf Shop will also receive a facelift with new carpeting, fixtures and lighting.
“We are excited to begin work on this series of capital improvement projects,” said Stephen Havrilla, Director of Golf, Seaview Golf Resort. “Seaview enjoys a storied golf history, including our longstanding relationship with the LPGA, so it is essential that we always improve on the facility to continually exceed the expectations of our golfing customers, as well as resort guests and visitors overall.”
The golf renovation project is part of the resort’s overall plan to refresh Seaview, further establishing it as one of the leading resorts in the Northeast. With exterior painting, window replacements and other modifications scheduled for the main lobby and Main Dining Room, guests will experience the changes upon arrival. For those visiting Seaview as part of a meeting group or attending a wedding, updates to event facilities, including the Regency Room and the Oval Room, as well as the addition of the new Bay View Outdoor Terrace, will further enhance the experience for guests on property.
Located just minutes from Atlantic City, Seaview’s unique and historical resort setting is home to 36 holes of Championship golf on two of New Jersey’s oldest and most prestigious golf courses. The links-style Bay Course is designed by legendary architect Donald Ross, while the critically acclaimed Pines Course, with its scenic parkland setting, showcases the inherent beauty of Southern New Jersey’s pine forest landscape. In 2008/2009, the resort was honored with 4 ½ stars from Golf Digest magazine for “Best Places to Play,” and in 2010 was honored by Golfweek magazine as one of the “Best Courses You Can Play” in New Jersey, as well as by Golf World magazine with a Readers’ Choice Award.
