CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (November 24, 2010) – Golf Convergence, the golf industry’s emerging leader in creating strategic solutions, has been retained by the City and County of Denver to create an inspiring 10-year strategic vision for its seven municipal golf facilities. This vision will be designed to ensure that these diverse value-based recreational opportunities operate on a stable financial foundation for the benefit of Denver citizens.
“As long-time residents of this vibrant metroplex, we are really thrilled about immersing ourselves in this project on behalf of the City and County of Denver,” said James J. Keegan, managing principal of Golf Convergence. “With appropriate capital investment, these golf courses, which include a 1924 Donald Ross design, could be updated, creating heightened golfer interest. Combined with their outstanding location and current profitability, these facilities present the opportunity to create a long-term sustainable golf enterprise that is exciting to contemplate.”
Some of the possibilities that are being evaluated include tiering the golf courses on a platinum, gold, silver, bronze and steel scale; determining if Overland, the 2nd oldest golf course west of the Mississippi River, should be converted to open park space to accommodate the vibrant population growth nearby; and undertaking a feasibility study to ascertain if a golf course should be built on 155 acres at the former Stapleton International Airport, a part of the City which is now experiencing an economic revival.
The eight-step Golf Convergence WIN™ formula ensures that the strategic vision, tactical plans, and operational execution are aligned to maximize revenue, increase operational efficiency, and enhance customer service.
Understanding that each client has unique needs and goals, Golf Convergence draws from its world-wide network of expert alliances to form the ideally suited team to successfully execute the project. Relying on the Golf Convergence WIN™ formula, each team creates a customized approach designed to increase the return on the client’s investment. Longtitudes, Weather Trends International, Herfort-Norby, Aspire Consulting, Atira Golf, Real Estate Capital Corporation, Lisa Langas Retail Solutions, Pros Consulting, and the National Golf Foundation will all be engaged to craft the optimum solution for the City and County of Denver.
This process is featured in the recently published book, The Business of Golf: What Are You Thinking?, authored by James J. Keegan. The book focuses on how to maximize the financial return of a golf course. Within its first 60 days of being published, sales of The Business of Golf rank in the top 20 percent of published books, according to statistics published on Chris Anderson’s blog, The Long Tail (http://bit.ly/b2pnXd).
