San Diego, CA – TGA-Premier Junior Golf franchise owners Chris Dawkins and Matt Lacues, owners of TGA Premier Junior Golf in the Peninsula Valley, California, has acquired their second TGA territory in North San Diego. TGA is one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the only national after-school junior golf program in the country. Dawkins and Lacues are the fourth TGA franchise owners to own multiple franchises across the country.
Chris Dawkins and Matt Lacues, who were both born and raised in Northern California, have taken full advantage of a great career opportunity with TGA. Chris has been part of TGA Premier Junior Golf since 2008 when he worked full time with TGA of North San Diego while attending the Golf Academy of Carlsbad, where he graduated in April 2008. Matt joined TGA in 2009 after acquiring TGA of Peninsula Valley.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity TGA has provided me, both as an instructor during my education years, and now as an owner of two successful franchise territories,” said Dawkins. “TGA continues to be a wonderful career opportunity for PGA professionals and other entrepreneurs across the country looking to own their own successful business while growing the game of golf.”
Their new territory, TGA of North San Diego, has grown fast with over 30 schools and 3000 students, a number which they expect to double over the next year. In addition they plan to bring programs to the local YMCA teaching 100 under-resourced, at risk kids in the 5th – 8th grade in 2011.
“I am very excited to be back in San Diego and reunited with families that helped get me started with TGA,” said Dawkins. “I look forward to working with the Golf Academy of Carlsbad to give back to both the schools and the community by providing opportunities for new instructors to work with students teaching them the life lessons associated with this great game and company.”
Matthew Lacues, who has been teaching golf to kids for 10+ years will continue to oversee the Peninsula Valley program that he and Chris launched together a year ago. TGA of the Peninsula Valley currently runs 27 school programs and has taught 1500 students. Lacues is very excited about the new TGA expansion.
“The expansion of our TGA programs to San Diego is very exciting and a great opportunity to continue growing our business with this wonderful franchise opportunity,” said Lacues. “As both of our TGA territories continue to grow, I look forward to working with Chris and continuing to engage students and promoting the positive character development and life lessons in both North San Diego and the Peninsula Valley.”
“I am excited for Chris to be able to reconnect with all of his former students and families in San Diego. These are exciting times for TGA and 2011 will be an extraordinary year for the schools, students, and families associated with TGA North San Diego.”
Joshua Jacobs, President and CEO of TGA Premier Junior Golf, sees the true potential of TGA when current franchises start additional TGA businesses. “TGA applauds Chris and Matt for expanding their business and continuing to grow the game of golf while instilling life values and character development through our five-level education based program,” said Jacobs. “Chris and Matt are exemplary individuals who have taken their passion for kids, golf and growing the game and turned it into a successful multiple business reality.”
About TGA – Premier Junior Golf
TGA – Premier Junior Golf is one of the country’s most unique and fastest growing recreational programs for kids and is rapidly becoming a golden franchise opportunity for self starters who enjoy working with children in a business venture that provides a unique entry into youth sports, education, and the golf industry.
TGA is the only national after school program that teaches the fundamentals of the game of golf, its rules, etiquette, and life values, while promoting education for kindergarten students through the eighth grade.
Since its inception in six Los Angeles schools in the fall of 2003, the premier junior golf program is now offered nationwide in 2,300 schools reaching 110,000 students from Kindergarten to 8th grade in 22 states. TGA breaks down the traditional barriers of inconvenience and high cost when golf is brought to children directly through their schools.
The TGA enrichment curriculum, developed by PhDs in child and curriculum development, along with PGA and LPGA golf professionals, is a unique five-level program designed for kids to advance from one level to the next while building self-esteem as well as confidence in terms of education, life skills and character development. The steps also include teaching fundamental math, science, English, and history associated with the program.
TGA is also endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA). It is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on After School, a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness. TGA is also approved by the United States Golf Association USGA) under the Rules of Amateur Status.
