Sanford, FL – RIFE Putters would like to congratulate the 2nd Place Finisher of the European Tour’s Dubai World Championship held at Jumeriah Golf Estates this past weekend in Dubai. His putting performance with his RIFE Island Series Aruba putter was outstanding all week and on Sunday he was once again in the lead. Fresh off a victory at the UBS Hong Kong Open last weekend, it appeared that back-to-back victories was going to be the headline on Monday morning, but an unfortunate Rule Violation on the 2nd Hole of a Sudden Death Playoff changed everything.
On the 2nd Hole of the playoff, he incurred a one-stroke penalty for disturbing his marker, a violation of Rule 20-1/15. While attempting to place the ball behind the marker, he accidentally dropped it and when it struck and “flipped” the coin, it moved it from its original location about an inch. He called over a European our Rules Official and explained what had happened. The 1 stroke penalty cost him the victory as the eventual winner rolled in a short putt for birdie.
“It’s an unfortunate situation,” said Larry Watson, Director of Tour Operations for RIFE Putters, “and a tough way to lose a Tournament…but that’s golf. The Rules are in place for a reason, and I commend him on calling that penalty on himself. No one else really saw what happened and knew that his marker had moved. But he owned up to his unfortunate mistake. That’s the kind of person he is, first class all the way, and we’re just as proud of his performance in this 2nd Place Finish as we were in his victory last week at the Hong Kong Open.”
This 2nd Place Finish moves him up to 4th in The Race to Dubai Rankings and 8th on the Official World Golf Rankings.
14 Tour wins in 2010, and 44 victories overall, dating back to 2008, have made RIFE Putters one of the greatest stories in the history of the golf business.
About RIFE Putters
RIFE Putters, LLC is the true innovator behind horizontal grooved face putter technology with a patent on specifically sized grooves since 1997. These precisely spaced grooves allow the putter to gently press into the cover of the ball and grip and lift it into an instant forward roll. Guerin Rife states, “just as grooves in irons help control spin so do grooves in a putter face.” Other companies are now trying to imitate this patented technology but the spacing of the grooves is the true key to the gripping and lifting effect of grooved face putter technology. Horizontal RollGroove™ faced putters create the truest “no skid” roll in golf no matter where you hit the ball on the putter face.
