Delta Sky magazine has an unmistakable Nicklaus flavor today and throughout the holiday travel season, as the popular in-flight magazine for Delta Airlines includes a profile of Jack Nicklaus-both the man and his company-as part of its December issue. Sky’s 5.3 million readers are treated to a 32-page profile of Palm Beach County, Fla. The writers and editors of Sky designated the Golden Bear as one of the “people to know” in Palm Beach County, where he has called home for parts of six decades.
In its “Native & Newcomer” section, Sky chose the Nicklaus Companies as one of Palm Beach County’s “Native” companies. In this profile, Sky chronicles how in 40 years the company, as Nicklaus said, “started off with a secretary, an office manager and me. Today, we have 60 people based here and over 100 around the world.” As Sky added, the Nicklaus Companies now is the worldwide leader in golf course design with 356 courses open for play in 34 countries and 39 states, and other success-story divisions include marketing and licensing, a golf equipment line, an apparel line and even wine. Also, the magazine will mention that among Jack and Barbara Nicklaus’ passions is the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, which began in Palm Beach County just more than five years ago and is fast becoming a nationally recognized charity.

Sky magazine is available on Delta’s 13,000 daily flights and to the airline’s 13 million monthly passengers, and is distributed at newsstands and bookstores, such as Barnes & Noble.
The interview and story were done by Myatt Murphy, who has written over 900 feature stories and continues to write on travel and business, lifestyle, exercise, nutrition, celebrity, first-person humor and relationships for over 50 national magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Glamour, GQ, Sports Illustrated, and Success.
At an unveiling Tuesday night at The Breakers in Palm Beach, an event which drew Palm Beach County politicians, community leaders, as well as Governor Charlie Crist, Sky magazine executives explained how rare such an extensive profile on one area was for the publication. In fact, Palm Beach County is only the third destination to be chosen for this particular profile series.
“I think it’s safe to say that 32 pages is the largest feature the Palm Beaches has ever received in a global form,” said Carsten Morgan, director of city and regional sections for Sky magazine.
“The basic question we were trying to answer was, ‘Why should an individual or company consider investing, moving or visiting Palm Beach County?'” Morgan added. “Palm Beach is really the perfect blend of opportunity, culture, beauty and commerce.”
