CHARLESTON, S.C. Among the conference’s educational highlights:
• Golf’s Town Hall: Championing Your Business through the Democratic Process: Learn the approaches that golf course owners take to champion golf in today’s complex legislative process. Owners will discuss how they have influenced critical federal and state legislative issues, including water rights, property and sales taxes and disaster relief.
• Health Care Reform Check-Up: What the New Laws Mean to Employers: Tax credits, individual mandates, temporary reinsurance, free-choice vouchers and employer penalties will be reviewed by one of Washington’s leading government relations firms.
• Newnomics: Incorporating New Media into Marketing to Cut Costs and Drive Profits: With the shift away from traditional advertising, how much of your marketing programs and budget should be directed online? This session will outline what a successful online marketing plan should include and help assess return on investment expectations.
• Management Information Systems Review & Demos: Information will be offered on choosing, utilizing and maximizing technology to attract and retain customers, operate more efficiently and run a more stable business.
• Where’s the Money?: Owners, attorneys, lenders and brokers discuss workouts, foreclosures, financing, buying and selling golf facilities.
The NGCOA Annual Conference opens on Feb. 7 with a new educational track focusing on the “Golf Event and Facility of the Future” during the Club Car NGCOA Golf Outing at the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club in Orlando. Outing participants will see demonstrations on retailing, fitness and spa programs, technology and finance. Those choosing to play in the 18-hole golf event will enjoy one of Florida’s top courses.
A full day of education is scheduled on Feb. 8, when such subjects as retailing success, customer service, generating cash flow, sustainability, attracting new customers and pricing strategies will be discussed by industry experts. Opportunities to learn about issues affecting the golf business continue on the exhibit floor of the Golf Industry Show Feb. 9-10 as part of a new educational track being offered alongside exhibits from the industry’s leading manufacturers and service providers.
Golf Channel analyst Charlie Rymer will emcee the Conference Celebration Dinner on Feb. 9 for NGCOA members, industry leaders, friends and supporters. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the NGCOA’s 2011 Golf Course of the Year and Jemsek Award for Golf Course Excellence.

The NGCOA’s Annual Conference runs concurrently with the 2011 Golf Industry Show, Feb. 9-10, at the Orange County Convention Center. The Golf Industry Show, which attracts leading manufacturers and service providers, is presented by the NGCOA and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
