Alexandria, VA – December 1, 2010 – The Club Managers Association of America is pleased to announce the development of a Risk Management Department designed to assist clubs mitigate risk within their operations. The Association is also pleased to announce that Jeffery Magoon will head the department as a CMAA Member Advocate tasked with serving the membership in support of reaching their risk management needs and goals.
The primary purpose of the Risk Management Department will be to create new risk management education programs and products for CMAA member-managed clubs. The department will primarily work with the insurance industry to create products customized for CMAA member managed clubs. By leveraging the size of the CMAA membership, this new department will work to get the best value for the club’s dollar in these difficult economic times and improve the club’s coverages in all areas.
“We are excited to add this new department to our National Organization,” commented CMAA CEO Jim Singerling, CCM, CEC. “This is a new service for the Association and an increasingly important area of responsibility for our members. As CMAA offerings continue to evolve, I look forward to the membership taking advantage of Magoon’s expertise and these much needed support services.”
“We have recognized that most clubs do not possess staff with a formal background in the area of risk management,” said new CMAA Risk Management Member Advocate Jeffery Magoon. “This is an area where CMAA can step up and deliver tremendous support to its members. We will work directly with the insurance industry to develop ground-breaking education programs and products that will help our members reduce expenses and limit their risk. After 14 years in the insurance industry, this is a great opportunity for me to get involved with a forward-thinking association like CMAA.”
Look for more information on this department in the coming weeks and at the CMAA World Conference and Club Business Expo in Orlando, FL, February 24-28, 2011.
