BRADENTON, Fla. – World-renowned restaurateur & wine connoisseur Sean Murphy and a combined team of chefs from Bistro at The Concession (of The Concession Golf Club) and the Beach Bistro were invited by the James Beard Foundation to host a performance dinner at the Beard House Dec. 2. The dinner, celebrating “Gulf Coast Cookery during the Holiday Season,” was designed to help usher in the holiday shopping season in New York City.
The James Beard Foundation, which hosts the James Beard Awards – the equivalent of the Culinary Oscars, recognizes the best chefs, food writers and the best rising chefs in America.
Each performance dinner at the Beard House consists of four passed appetizers and then a full six-course presentation.
“It was a great honor to be invited to put on a performance dinner at the prestigious Beard House,” said Murphy, Culinary Director of Bistro at The Concession and proprietor of Anna Maria Island’s ZAGAT® -award-winning Beach Bistro. “The Concession is the first private club from Florida to be invited to celebrate a performance dinner at the Beard House. It is instant recognition that Bistro at The Concession is a serious culinary venue with excellent credentials, and it’s also a statement of the Beard House’s confidence in the Bistro team to extend the invitation at the beginning of the New York holiday shopping season.”
Golfers know that a championship golf course is the key component to any great golf facility, but an important cornerstone of premier clubs is also the dining experience. At the award-winning Concession Golf Club, the Jack Nicklaus Signature design is complemented by the world-class cuisine of Bistro at The Concession, where members and their guests experience fine dining that features the world’s best Nova Scotia Smoked Salmon along with Southern Comfort BBQ Shrimp, Gulf Coast Bouillabaisse and Honolulu Butterfish, as well as a connoisseur’s choice of exquisite wines sure to please every person’s palate.

About The Concession
The Concession Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course designed in association with Tony Jacklin, was conceived in commemoration of the 1969 Ryder Cup singles match between the two where Nicklaus conceded a putt to Jacklin. That gesture, known as “the concession,” rendered the two teams in a 17-17 tie. The United States retained the Ryder Cup having won it in 1967. That moment marked the beginning of a lasting friendship between the two men and inspired one of America’s great golf clubs. The Concession is located at 7700 Lindrick Lane on the border of Sarasota and Manatee counties, just six miles east of 1-75 on University Parkway. Named “Best New Private Course of 2006” by Golf Digest magazine, The Concession golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus in association with Tony Jacklin. This 18-hole par 72 golf course is set on 520 acres of ruggedly pristine land dotted with massive oaks and majestic pines. It totals 7,470 yards and runs three miles from tip to tip.
