TEMPE, AZ December 27, 2010 – When you make a cutting edge product, it can be difficult to get people to see your vision.
“We get a lot of people who say ‘oh yeah, you’re the biodegradable golf ball company,’ William Carey, Dixon Golf CEO, said. The reality is our golf balls aren’t biodegradable, but recyclable. It may not seem like it to some, but that’s a big difference.”
Last weekend, Dixon Golf held its most successful golf ball recycling event to date, collecting more than 11,000 golf balls in three days at the PGA TOUR Superstore in Scottsdale, AZ.
Dixon Golf partnered with The Thunderbirds, a Phoenix-area charity group, to give away passes to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Krank Golf also donated drivers to give to prize winners, and Athlete’s Performance donated a $2,100 elite fitness package. All the balls collected will be used in Waste Management’s floating sign on the 18th Hole at Scottsdale’s TPC, where the Open will be held from January 31st to February 6th, 2011. The sign will hold 144,000 used golf balls and weigh more than seven tons.
