‘Hottest Shafts In Golf’ dominates wood, hybrid shaft manufacturer counts in 2010
POWAY, Calif. – Aldila’s ability to fuse high-end design with cutting-edge technology helped them dominate the 2010 golf season with multiple wins that spanned the PGA, Nationwide, European and Champions Tours. Aldila also claimed the #1 Shaft on Tour status by winning the most wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts throughout the year, according to the Darrell Survey. “The Hottest Shafts In Golf” rounded out the season by helping several of the PGA Tour’s best players garner the season’s top awards including Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, and the World’s No. 1 golfer.
Powered by the lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness of Aldila’s RIP Technology™ in his Driver, the U.S. Open winner was named the 2010 Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America. He also won the Golf Writers Trophy (a vote of the Association of Golf Writers) and shared European Tour Player of the Year honors. He was also named the joint winner of The Race to Dubai European Tour Golfer of the Year and was recently made a Member of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in her New Year list. In addition to winning the U.S. Open, he posted three other wins between the PGA and European Tours including, the Andalucia Valderrama Masters, The Celtic Manor Wales Open, and a comeback victory at the World Chevron Challenge.
“The RIP™ employs patent-pending technology and exclusive materials to completely transform shaft design from the inside out,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager. “Through the use of computer modeling technology and exclusive materials provided by the Aldila Materials Division, Aldila engineers were able to completely rethink golf shaft design and performance. The result is a revolutionary shaft with optimum flex and torque characteristics with incredible feel.”
Another 2010 award recipient also benefited from Aldila’s RIP Technology. After finishing outside the Top 125 on the money list for the first time since his rookie season, the 2010 Greenbrier Classic Champ used Aldila’s RIP in all of his woods and hybrid clubs to help become the PGA Tour’s Comeback Player of the Year by his peers. He finished 2010 in 38 place on the money list, won the season-opening SBS Championship; the Greenbrier, where he posted a record-tying 59; and finished the season with a win at the JBWere Masters in Australia.
The World’s No. 1 golfer also trusts Aldila’s cutting edge technology. Using the S-Core Technology™ of Aldila’s VooDoo XNVS in his Driver to help propel his way to an eight-shot victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Aldila’s VooDoo® shaft, featuring S-core Technology™, was also instrumental throughout the season for the No. 1 golfer in the Official World Golf Ranking. He relied on the VooDoo XNVS in his driver throughout the season.
“The VooDoo XNVS has the same outstanding features of the original VooDoo but with the flex profile and incredible feel of the NV®,” said Bahl. “The secret of the VooDoo line is its innovative rib structure that runs the length of the shaft increasing hoop strength/stiffness. It is designed to maximize energy transfer to the golf ball, yielding unparalleled distance and accuracy with each swing.”
“The Hottest Shafts In Golf” also maintained their status as the #1 Shaft on Tour in 2010 by winning the majority of the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts throughout the season, according to the Darrell Survey. Aldila had more wood shafts in play on Tour and nearly two times as many hybrid shafts in play than any other graphite shaft manufacturer.
