IRVINE, CA – JANUARY 4, 2011 – FOURTEEN GOLF, the worldwide leader in wedge design with over 20 professional tour victories in 2010, announced today that its new MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge was tested against hundreds of wedges produced by the largest golf companies in the industry and it received the highest honor in the golf – the Golf Digest 2011 “Hot List” award.
This year Golf Digest tested wedges that conform to the new grooves only. They also took into account wedges that were designed to overcome the new rule change as well as which ones were played on professional tours in 2010.
According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda, “We are thrilled that the judges at Golf Digest recognized the benefits of our signature FOURTEEN GOLF “reverse taper design” and new trapezoidal shaped grooves. Combined they produce spin with control and met the ‘Hot List’ criterion of overcoming the new groove rules. This award means a lot to the company, particularly to the engineering team.”
The MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge received one of the highest scores in the performance category with four and half stars, higher than most of its competitors; including the Callaway X Series Jaws CC, the Cleveland CG16, the Mizuno MP T-11, the Nike VR Pro Forged, and Ping Tour-S. It also was a standout in the look/sound/feel category with four stars.
Player comments from the test stated on the MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge, “I feel like I don’t even need to carry three wedges because I could hit every shot with these.”
The highly engineered MT-28V5 T.S. Wedge Series was developed with extraordinary feedback garnered from today’s top professionals. This input helped the design team to produce a wedge that promotes versatility. Whether playing a full or half shot these wedges promote stability and precision.
This classically designed wedge features an enhanced signature FOURTEEN GOLF “reverse taper design.” It has been improved by adding a groove strategically located in between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This structural change allowed the engineers to move the CG to a higher more stabilizing position for more precise shots.
The new MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge is also available in two distinct types of soles.
(New H Sole) The H Sole has been engineered for variety and control. Its entire sole portion is flat with a slight heel and toe relief to enable shot management in any type of situation.
(New M Sole) This professionally inspired and tested sole features a slight ridge on the bottom center of the sole. This precisely positioned crest optimizes the M Sole. When a golfer opens the club face it utilizes the back portion of the sole while closing the face uses the front sole portion. This newly appointed element or modification provides easy control of the club face and optimizes the bounce.
In preparation for the new groove rule, the company spent years engineering a new trapezoidal shaped groove so this wedge as well as the entire product line-up of FOURTEEN GOLF would be in compliance with the new regulations effective in 2010 for the professional tours and 2014 for amateurs and tournaments.
The 2011 Golf Digest “Hot List” award winning MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge Series is available in lofts 48-degrees through 60-degrees and with a black finish. They will be shipping into retail this spring and will available for testing at the PGA Merchandise Show Demo Day on Wednesday, January 26 at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Orlando, FL.
Show attendees can also test the MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedges at the Equipment Testing Center at Hitting Bay #9 during the PGA Merchandise Show at the Orange County Convention Center.
“We encourage all attendees to visit the FOURTEEN GOLF hitting bay. Not only will our new award winning MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge be showcased, but our new Golf Digest ‘Hot List’ award winning TC-510 Forged Irons will be available to test. Come out to feel what it is like to play equipment developed on Tour but available for all golfers,” added Kamoda.
FOURTEEN GOLF is a burgeoning golf equipment company that takes great pride in their tour program. In fact a major component to the Golf Digest “Hot List” test is whether a product is “Hot.” Here is what the judges declared, “FOURTEEN has a growing reputation on the professional tours for making classic designs that resonate with better players. This wedge might be the best example.”
The company’s overall growth can be credited to its tour program. The feed back they receive from the touring professionals furnish key information for the research and development team.
