WEST CHESTER, Pa. (January 3, 2010) – Inside Golf, the award-winning weekly golf magazine-style television show on Comcast SportsNet, begins its 14th year on the air this weekend. Since its debut in January of 1998, the highly successful, locally produced and regionally based show has made its mark by concentrating on the area’s rich golf scene.
“It’s amazing to me that the show has been on the air so many years,” said Ken Selinger, president of CCI Communications, Inc., the West Chester-based company that produces the show. “But even more amazing is the fact that the show continues to grow. Our cumulative ratings have consistently increased over the years. We have more people watching the show than ever and they are constantly telling us how much they like what we do.”
Inside Golf goes into this year with Philadelphia area radio veteran Harry Donahue returning as host of the show. His professional style, combined with his knowledge of the sport and passion for the game have proven to be a major plus.
“My first full year with Inside Golf was an exciting adventure through the world of golf,” said Donahue. “I can’t wait to see where the show takes me this year.”
A new wrinkle last year was the development of Colleen Wolfe as valued contributor and sidekick to Donahue. Wolfe’s fresh take, from a female’s viewpoint, added a new dimension as Inside Golf expanded its horizons. In addition, Wolfe has been integral in remaking the show’s website, www.insidegolf.net, which now contains photos from host sites as well as video links to past shows.
The mainstay of Inside Golf’s appeal is the weekly visits to host courses, uncovering new challenges for golfers who are always looking for the best in golf quality and value. While the bulk of the weekly shows come from courses within a two-hour radius of Philadelphia, Inside Golf again will be making road trips to exotic and exciting locations for the express purpose of lifting the spirits of golfers trapped inside by winter weather. In the past, Inside Golf has traveled much of the eastern half of the country in its quest to serve the golfer of the Mid-Atlantic region but last year it made its first trip outside the country with a much-publicized trip to Tucker’s Point in Bermuda. This year’s schedule begins with a very interesting six-week tour of Myrtle Beach.
Finally, Inside Golf has enjoyed bringing its viewers some celebrity show specials – such as in depth interviews with Vince Papale and Jack Whitaker. Expect more of the same in 2011, as well as the annual tour of the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando with Tony Leodora – “Tony’s Top Ten” — and extensive trips to Myrtle Beach and the Pocono Mountains
The Inside Golf television show airs four times a week on Comcast SportsNet – 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The show also can be seen anytime by using the On Demand feature on Comcast digital cable.
