“School of Golf” to premiere Jan. 25
ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 4, 2011) – Golf Channel announced renowned swing coach Martin Hall as the winner of the network’s recent nationwide instructor search and the host of a new, weekly instruction series, titled School of Golf, premiering Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. ET.
Currently, director of instruction at Ibis Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., Hall is ranked 12th on Golf Digest’s Top 50 Teachers of all time and ranked as a Top 100 Instructor by GOLF Magazine, for which he has contributed editorial content over the years. He was the 2008 PGA of America Teacher of the Year and was a long-time teacher for LPGA Tour professional Morgan Pressel. Hall also has appeared on several Golf Channel shows over the years and has been a featured instructor on GolfChannel.com.
“I’ve been influenced by so many sources, Hall of Fame players and teachers,” Hall said of his newest television endeavor. “I’m really looking forward to sharing things I’ve learned from players like Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, and teachers like Bob Toski, Jim Flick and Chuck Cook. I’ve got some interesting stories from some interesting sources, and I’m glad to pass them on.”
Hall was selected from a nationwide search conducted by Golf Channel last fall that included hundreds of applicants hoping to be the network’s next great instructor. After narrowing the search to three finalists – Hall, Wayne Player and Karen Palacios-Jansen – each filmed a pilot show that aired in December during the network’s 12 Nights at the Academy series of instruction specials. Votes that determined the ultimate winner were cast by both a panel of network programming executives and Golf Channel viewers.
School of Golf will be a weekly, half-hour interactive show filmed at Golf Channel’s network studios in Orlando. Hall will use the network’s in-studio simulator and will bring his unique teaching style to Golf Channel viewers, utilizing social media to help drive the show’s content.
