Darrell Survey confirms more players used the company’s wood and hybrid
shafts than any other manufacturer
(FORT WORTH, TX) – UST Mamiya – maker of the world’s finest carbon fiber golf shafts and premium grips – confirms that the winner of the PGA Tour’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions relied on its Proforce V2 models in his driver, fairway wood (both 86 gram, x-flex) and hybrid (89 gram, x-flex).
In addition to recording the victory, the Darrell Survey confirmed that UST Mamiya led the wood and hybrid shaft counts at the tournament, which was held this past weekend at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course in Maui, HI. The company’s offerings accounted for roughly 40-percent of the hybrid shafts in play and 20-percent of wood shafts.
“We’re off to a great start this year and look forward to continued dominance on all major Tours worldwide,” says Gene Simpson, COO of UST Mamiya. “Our products help players of any skill level achieve longer, straighter shots and lower scores.”
During 2010, UST Mamiya users recorded 33 professional victories worldwide, including 14 on the PGA Tour. Other wins came on the PGA European, Nationwide, Champions, European Senior and Asian Tours. Paralleling its achievements at the professional level, the company’s shafts have remained the top-selling aftermarket option in the United States the past four years.
Likened to the precision of Lexus automobiles, all UST Mamiya carbon-fiber shafts are made using handcrafted, repeatable production techniques that incorporate world-class engineering and premium-selected raw materials. This combines with tight tolerances, constant taper design and low-resin content to enhance feel during the golf swing.
UST Mamiya produces a variety of shaft models within the ATTAS and Proforce product lines:
ATTAS – Introduced in Japan in early 2009 and in North America late last year, this premium shaft was immediately adopted by Tour players globally. Innovatively engineered with smooth-bending properties throughout the shaft’s constant taper design, more energy is transferred to the ball for instant feedback with greater distance. Ultra-thin carbon fibers optimize feel and allow the shaft to maintain its shape for consistent, accurate shots. The ATTAS T2 was introduced in late 2010 and is designed for players seeking mid launch, with tight dispersion and penetrating ball flight.
Proforce – Famous for its bright gold color and contributing to multiple major-tournament victories, Proforce shafts have been UST Mamiya’s flagship since winning the 1999 Masters. The V2 incorporates the company’s original “tip technology,” masterfully balancing torque, weight, spin and launch angle for extraordinary power off the tee. The latest in the Proforce series, the AXIVCore features four-axis material promoting stability, control and ease of swing for increased ball speed.
