Orlando, Fla. (January 12, 2011) – Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorenstam journeys into the culinary world lending her talents to a new TV series, Golf a la Carte®. In addition to introducing each segment, Annika will, from time to time, appear as a celebrity hostess and share her cooking secrets. Besides being the most famous female golfer of all time and a successful business woman, Annika enjoys cooking and entertaining family and friends.
“I look forward to working on Golf Ala Carte as it combines three of my passions; golf, food, and wine,” said Annika. “I think this is a creative concept that will showcase the game we all love along with the lifestyle that surrounds it.”
The weekly television show begins shooting this month in Orlando at Reunion Resort, home of the ANNIKA Academy, with the series’ weekly hosts, Tom and Sonja Horan, best known for their award-winning radio show, Speaking of Golf™.
“In all the years that we have been in the golf business, Sonja and I are very honored to be working with a golf legend like Annika,” Horan said.
Golf a la Carte will be shot at golf resorts and clubs featuring a cooking segment with the head chefs and celebrities. Each show will offer something unique about the facility, including golf tips, discussions of wines and local foods, golf fashion, all toward showing the many aspects of golf lifestyles.
The television show is based on the book, Golf a la Carte, Recipes from America’s Finest Clubs, by D.G. Stern, who will be the show’s executive producer.
“I am very excited to participate in the creation of a television series with the immense talent that has been assembled,” said Stern. “The opportunity to pull together multiple facets of the golf experience is an exciting challenge.”
Golf a la Carte is currently in negotiations with several domestic and international platforms for distribution of the premiere season of 13 episodes. The anticipated schedule would see Golf a la Carte beginning to air in the fall of 2011.
