BALTIMORE, MD. – January 12, 2011 – STX Golf, world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the company is introducing the new SS2 Putter from the STX Sync Series which embodies the same characteristics as the Sync Tour Mallet.
The new STX SS2 Putter resembles its predecessor, the Sync Tour Mallet. As it is a contemporary mallet that features the signature STX bullet back design which distributes optimum weight directly behind the sweet spot. This crucial element is why the Sync Tour Mallet was a favorite on the PGA Tour. It is proven to keep any stroke on line with extraordinary balance and unforgettable feel.
What differentiates the new STX SS2 from the original is its uniquely designed heel-toe element that increases the M.O.I. The modern mallet head size is considerably smaller but weighs in heavier at 355 grams. A standard feature in the Sync Series is the step-less center shaft. On the STX SS2 Putter, it is positioned directly in the center for precision putting.
According to STX Director of Golf Steve Henneman, “The new Sync Series is a terrific collection of putters that epitomize the STX classics of the past but with new technologies, metals, finishes, designs, and a lower price point. The SS2 is a perfect example of that. Its graceful lines and high performance will make it another favorite on tour and a stand out at retail.”
STX Sync Series Putters have been used to capture twelve PGA Tour events and one major from 1995 to 2005. Its success can be directly attributed to the company’s Soft Insert Technology called “F.E.E.L.” – Friction Enhancing Elastomer Layer. This patented STX technology dramatically increases the coefficient of friction to put a greater amount of topspin on the ball and keep your putts on line. The Soft Face Insert Keeps the ball in contact with the putter longer to provide superior directional control, decreased ball skid and reduced ball deformation.
The black insert is the softest in the STX line. It delivers the highest friction and resilience rate with increased dwell time. Those characteristics are chemically formulated to get the ball rolling sooner and keep your putts on line. For a medium resiliency rate, the red insert offers an intermediate amount of dwell time for true control. For golfers who prefer a firmer feel, the green insert provides a harder feel with less resilience.
The new STX SS2 modern mallet is faced balanced and is available in both 34″ and 35″ in length. The loft is 3 degrees and the lie is 71 degrees. A left handed model is offered. A distinctive black PVD finish, Golf Pride grip, and premium head-cover add to the sophistication of the STX SS2 Putter. The STX SS2 Putter will begin shipping in January of 2011 with a MSRP of $109.99 and will be showcased at the upcoming 2011 Demo Day and PGA Merchandise Show.
The ninth annual PGA Demo Day will be held on Wednesday, January 26th at the Orange County National Golf Center. STX will be prominently positioned on the large putting green during the entire demo day. The company welcomes all PGA Members, retailers, and members of the media to come by and putt with the new STX SS2 Putter as well as the entire Sync Series.
Within the Orange County Convention Center during the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show, the STX booth #501 is conveniently located in the Equipment Hall on the main aisle just two rows from the Equipment Testing Center. The company will be exhibiting from Thursday, January 27th to Saturday, January 29th.
About STX
STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face elastomer insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” Following this advancement, the company introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today.
