IRVINE, CA – January 14, 2011 – FOURTEEN GOLF, the worldwide leader in wedge design with over 20 professional tour victories in 2010, announced today the company celebrated its first professional victory in the first week of the new 2011 season and year.
The FOURTEEN GOLF MT-28 V5 Wedge was played in a 54-degree and 60-degree to win the NGA Hooters Tour at River Hills Golf Course in Little River, North Carolina. This first tour 2011 victory for FOURTEEN GOLF was done impressively. His three day score was seven strokes better than Paul Woodbury who finished in second place.
According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda, “We take great pride when FOURTEEN GOLF is recognized with a victory. This win is particularly special as it commemorates the first win of the 2011 golf season and in the first week of the New Year. It is definitely a great start to the new season!”
The winner of the River Hills Tournament posted amazing scores of 64, 62, and 70 for a total 20-under par. This Alabama Alumni has played the FOURTEEN GOLF MT-28 V5 Wedge since last year.
The MT-28 V5 represents a long legacy of winning wedges. Its predecessor, the MT-28 V4 is known on several professional Tours as the “go to club” or the “money maker” and the new MT-28 V5 T.S. Wedge was just honored with the 2011 Golf Digest “Hot List” award. Its exceptional performance has positioned FOURTEEN as the wedge authority.
The classically designed wedge features the signature FOURTEEN “reverse taper design” but has been improved by adding a groove strategically located in between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This structural change allowed the engineers to move the CG to a higher more stabilizing position for more precise shots.
“The MT-28 V5 Wedge offers more control, spin and accuracy as compared to those older wedges with the old grooves. Our engineers ensured that and our victory count speaks for itself. And Golf Digest not only recognized how effective our wedges are but validated it with the ‘Hot List’ award”, added Kamoda.
In preparation for the new groove policy on the professional tours such as the PGA and LPGA, the company spent years engineering a new trapezoidal shaped groove for the MT-28 V5 Wedge. This distinctively sharp-edged trapezoidal groove helps produce spin as well as control.
