LAKE MARY, FL – The 2nd Annual $10,000 Timacuan Scramble will be conducted Monday, January 24, at Timacuan Golf Club in Lake Mary, FL. The tournament, which attracted a full field in its 2010 debut, is one of the first events of what promises to be a busy PGA Merchandise Show Week in the Orlando area.
The format is a four-person scramble, with at least one player on each team being a professional. Teams may consist of all professionals.
A team of NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tour players from Jacksonville won the $10,000 first prize last year. Matt Kleinrock, Jeff Dennis, Tyler Brown and Chase Baldwin shot 18-under-par 54 in extremely windy conditions on the challenging Ron Garl design.
“The tournament was really well organized and had a lot of great players,” said Brown. “I love the golf course. It has a lot of really nice holes, and was in great shape. It is one of the best courses we play all year on the Hooters Tour.”
Men will play the golf course from the Gold tees that measure 7,047 yards. Women will play the Blue tees that measure 6,531 yards. Professionals will receive a check on site. Cash prizes can be substituted with shop credit upon request.
The tournament will have a start at 8:30 a.m. Entry fee is $800 per team, and the field will be limited to 36 teams. Payout based on 36 teams is $10,000 for first place, $4,500 for second, $3,500 for third, $1,500 for fourth, $1,200 for fifth and $800 for sixth.
Registration can be completed through the Timacuan Pro Shop at 407-321-0014. Payment can be made by credit card, cashiers check, or cash, and must be received before being entered in the Scramble.
The semi-private Timacuan, which is home to the Mike Bender Golf Academy, is located near Interstate 4, just minutes north of downtown Orlando. It has been ranked as high as No. 14 in Florida.
