Nike Golf’s Tour-Proven Method Putter Keeps Rolling Forward with the New Nike Method Core

BEAVERTON, Ore. (January 18, 2011) – Last year’s highly anticipated introduction of Nike Golf’s Method putter generated an immense amount of attention due to the multiple positive results the putter produced even before it was officially launched. Prior to being launched in November 2009, the Method putter already had gleaned two major championship victories by Nike athletes Lucas Glover and Stewart Cink at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship, respectively. And now, after 12 victories on the professional Tours worldwide, the Nike Tour-proven premium technology doesn’t end there.

Nike Golf is introducing the newest member to the Nike Method putter family, the Nike Method Core. Available on March 3, 2011, the Nike Method Core putter features a unique polymer-aluminum insert. The Method Core putter has an aluminum insert face with a polymer back that goes all the way through the small milled grooves.

The polymer-aluminum insert lessens impact vibrations provides a pure sound, and grabs the ball at impact, resulting in a smooth, more controlled forward roll at impact. This helps eliminate backspin which causes skidding and mis-direction. This revolutionary and visibly distinctive red insert decreases backspin, which was expressed by Nike Golf athletes as an important ingredient to their putting accuracy, distance control and ultimate putting success. The less backspin, the more “true” the putt will roll.

“It used to take upwards of 4 degrees of loft to achieve this kind of launch angle, but 4 degrees of loft creates skid, which causes the ball to be unstable and inconsistent in speed, said David Franklin, Nike Golf’s Club Designer. “By introducing Polymetal Groove Technology, we’ve found a way to create the desired launch angle with the stability and speed control of a skid free roll.”

Nike Athlete Paul Casey was the first Nike athlete to win with the Nike Method putter and has been an advocate of the Method technology since he first tested the prototype. Casey has expressed how “you can really feel the difference of how the ball comes off the face and you can see the difference in how it rolls.”

Other Nike Athletes who use the Method Technology are Stephen Ames, Paul Casey, Stewart Cink, Lucas Glover and Justin Leonard.

The new Nike METHOD CORE putter (MSRP $155.99 and MAP $129.99) will be available in five models, 3 of which are blades, 1 mid-mallet and 1 mallet.

Blades: MC-1i, MC-2i, MC-3i
Mallet: MC-4i (mid-mallet), MC-5i
