Famed PGA WEST Headlines Roster of Courses Hosting 2011 National Championships in September
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 18, 2011 – The 2011 Golf Channel Am Tour NationalChampionships returns to Southern California this fall, with famed PGA WEST headlining the tournament’s roster of courses, Sept. 18-27, 2011.
PGA WEST’s Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course, Greg Norman Course and TPC Stadium Course joins La Quinta Resort & Club’s Mountain Course hosting the 2011 National Championships. The courses have a combined resume boasting the Bob Hope Classic, the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament, The PGA Grand Slam of Golf and The Skins Game. La Quinta Resort, long recognized as a “Celebrity Hideaway,” will serve as the tournament headquarters and the host resort for the national championships. The courses hosted the 2009 Golf Channel Am Tour National Championships to rave reviews.
“The reputations of the tournament courses and the host resort are tremendous within the Am Tour community, and we are excited to return to La Quinta for the 2011 National Championships,” said Kenny Booth, Golf Channel Am Tour national tournament director.

PGA WEST’s Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course, a co-host for the final stage of the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament, is one of the only courses in the world that features two island greens. The Greg Norman Course, co-host for the 2006 and 2007 PGA TOUR Pre-Qualifying Tournament, sits on a prehistoric ocean bed 40 feet below sea level. The TPC Stadium Course, PGA WEST’s crown jewel, is rated as one of the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” by GOLF MAGAZINE and the fourth toughest course in the United States by Golf Digest. The TPC Stadium Course also is co-host to the final stage of PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament, the host of the made-for-TV Skins Game and a past host of the Bob Hope Classic. Rounding out the roster of host courses include the Mountain Course at La Quinta Resort & Club, a nine-time host to the PGA Professional National Championship and also “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” by GOLF MAGAZINE.
National Championship participants will once again have the opportunity to meet and interact with many of Golf Channel’s anchors and reporters who will be on-site at select courses.
The Golf Channel Am Tour provides golfers of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to compete in local, regional and national golf tournaments at top facilities and golf destinations nationwide. Culminating the 2011 season will be the National Championships, broken up into the Senior National Championship (50 years of age or older) Sept. 18-21, followed by the Open National Championship Sept. 24-27.
