TrackMan Releases Revolutionary Golf Teaching And Performance Tool

January 21, 2011

TrackMan, the choice of the PGA TOUR, USGA, and R&A for swing and ball flight analysis, is proud to announce the release of its groundbreaking TrackMan Performance Studio.

Targeted specifically at teaching professionals and players, TrackMan Performance Studio delivers the definitive data and visual report on the golfer by merging spatially-coherent video with TrackMan data.

The TrackMan Performance Studio synchronizes video with TrackMan swing and shot data in real-time. Not just placing video alongside TrackMan data on a screen, but literally calibrating and slaving the video to TrackMan.

The revolutionary feature enables the TrackMan Performance Studio to create spatially coherent 3D imaging of the ball flight, club path, face angle and more, layered on the video, and independent of the camera’s position. The result is the ultimate swing & shot playback imaging, including player alignment and ball position, always illustrated in relation to the target line and fully integrated with TrackMan data.

This unique combination is made possible by TrackMan patented technology – using an internal camera built into the TrackMan hardware and calibrated to the radar for target alignment.

Marrying TrackMan data with video, the TrackMan Performance Studio provides a total picture of player performance in one straightforward, easy to use interface.

Whether working live or later when reviewing sessions, TrackMan Performance Studio’s scalable interface provides easy choices among multiple screens, views, video and data options, tailoring the workplace to the needs of the professional.

Select from multiple screens, mini screens that feature shot dispersion, trajectory or more, highlight particular TrackMan data, or just watch video on a big screen with TrackMan data on the side, underneath or not there at all. The TrackMan Performance Studio includes a suite of video swing analysis tools, including drawing tools to highlight swing plane, body positions and more, slow motion, frame- by- frame playback, video import, compare mode, before/after mode and student to model playback for studying and breaking down the swing.

All the benefits of video swing analysis, supported, calibrated, and confirmed by TrackMan data. Every X, Y and Z coordinate in the swing, clubface, and ball flight measured by TrackMan and illustrated on video.

TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING
Developed over more than two years, the TrackMan Performance Studio was created in direct response to customer feedback and market demand says TrackMan co-founder and CTO, Fredrik Tuxen.

“Having worked with the world leading golf educators and professionals for several years, we have seen TrackMan data play an increasingly vital role in teaching and player development.

Our findings on swing and ball flight theory developed using TrackMan data have led to a strong bond with TrackMan users. Knowledge sharing and customer feedback are not only greatly appreciated but essential to our product development.

The TrackMan Performance Studio was inspired by conversations with the world’s greatest coaches and players. An intuitive, state of the art solution, targeting the specific needs of every teacher and golfer,” says Tuxen.
Reiterating the point, Tuxen says, the modest goal for the Performance Studio is, “to be indispensible for any golf lesson.”

PORTABLE, EASY SET UP
The completely portable TrackMan Performance Studio uses a TrackMan Pro radar unit, standard DV camera(s) (or the popular Casio EX-F1), and a laptop to run the Performance Studio software. It can be used indoors or outdoors and being a TrackMan Pro, it takes just two minutes to set-up and calibrate, even in a green grass environment.

The Performance Studio supports recording from of up to six simultaneous cameras, calibrated and slaved to the TrackMan radar in one single step – making TrackMan Performance Studio totally unique.
