Abundance of outdoor recreational options – plus indoor golf – makes
Turning Stone Resort Casino an attractive winter meeting destination

Oneida Nation Homelands (Jan. 20, 2011) – “Winter rules” are currently in effect at Turning Stone Resort Casino, which is great news for meeting planners considering the abundance of recreational options, including the unique opportunity for guests to hone their golf game even in the face of Mother Nature.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there’s downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tubing and snowshoeing, plus ice fishing, all within a comfortable driving distance from the resort. And while Turning Stone is widely recognized for its world-class golf – Atunyote Golf Course was the site of a PGA Tour event the past four years – meeting planners can still make the golfers in any group happy regardless of the weather outside.

The indoor Golf Dome, within the Sportsplex at Turning Stone Resort Casino, is the premier year-round golf-training center in central New York and has been named among the “Top 10 Golf Domes in America” by Golf Range Magazine. Open daily, The Golf Dome features:

• a newly expanded short-game area;
• 40 hitting stations arranged in a double-deck structure;
• chipping areas; and
• a putting green.

Those who would prefer the challenge of a golf course can opt for Turning Stone Resort’s two golf simulators, which have enhanced technology for 2011. The new system is equipped to measure each player’s golf ball characteristics – speed, spin rate and launch angle. Mats are colored and textured to best simulate fairways, rough and bunker play. Nearly 40 different courses are available for play, including Atunyote, as well as St. Andrews, Pebble Beach and Pinehurst.

The Sportsplex Golf Dome also is the off-season home to The Golf Academy at Turning Stone, a successful learning environment for PGA instructor-led clinics, individual lessons and personal practice time. Offering a remodeled, full-service golf shop, the staff at the Golf Dome can provide professional club fitting and club repair services, as well.

The Sportsplex at Turning Stone also houses four indoor tennis courts, two racquetball courts, locker room facilities and a café.

For guests looking to enjoy the outdoor winter recreational options that are within close proximity, the resort has provided a convenient overview on its web site – www.turningstone.com/meet/localattractions.

Turning Stone Resort Casino offers diverse meeting facilities, from small boardroom-style for 10 guests to large-scale convention set-ups for 1,500. A combined 100,000 square feet of multi-functional meeting space includes an arena exhibit hall, 24 breakout rooms and ballrooms.

Moreover, this 3,400-acre resort features several lodging options, two spas (including the award-winning Skaná Spa at the Lodge), a variety of fine dining restaurants, multiple entertainment venues with top-notch live performances, an exciting dance club, and 125,000-square-feet of Vegas-style gaming space.
